Also the live demonstration by a security expert showing how equipment such as KMK's can be hacked into in seconds is due to happen soon.

If this is true it makes KMK's radiation detecting kit ...WORTHLESS.?

I should coco.

What do we invest in? How fast?
DARPA’s SIGMA program aims to prevent attacks involving radiological “dirty
bombs” and other nuclear threats by creating a cost-effective, continuous
radiation-monitoring network able to cover large cities or regions. A key
component in demonstrating the system at such large scales is low-cost, high
performance sensors available in volume.
Such technology did not exist, so DARPA undertook a rapid research and development effort where the
first 750 pocket-sized radiation sensors were produced within 13 months. Sensors can be paired with
smart phones or other devices, are one-tenth the cost of conventional sensors, and are up to 10 times
faster in identifying radiation sources. A follow on effort produced the needed 10,000 sensors at the
required price of $400 per unit over the course of eight months.
“We are extremely pleased with SIGMA’s achievements to date in advancing radiation detection
technology to fit in a portable, pocket-sized form factor at a price that’s a fraction of what current
advanced sensors cost,” said Vincent Tang, SIGMA program manager. “The ability to network
hundreds, and soon many thousands, of these smart detectors would make cities in the United
States and around the world safer against a wide variety of radiological and nuclear threats.”

FT says that in addition to strong medical imaging sales and prospects, Kromek has won contracts worth more than $12m from the US Department of Defense for radiation detectors, and a long-term contract in the security screening market. Contracts secured for $40m over last 2 years. Revenues are expected to increase to £12.5m this year. Analysts at Equity Developments said Kromek was now at a “tipping point”.

Rochdale, have you read company accounts, whilst it does tell about contracts awarded and values, the China one is forecasted to start this year. They mentioned about the 1 billion dollar market in nuclear safeguard, bone mineral 20m and the 100+ in spect , they are markets up for grabs, how much they get is another. My concern is that they 42m assets and 20m in cash, the cash they said would sustain them for at least 12 months, so they need to get their skates on there be another placing.Still long.I guess the news will be like buses , news coming in at 2 & 3 s

thanks for the update Culford.

got to agree with you Que Passa - should have been an update on this in terms of size, revenue and timescale. Suspect there hasn't been simply because the news is disappointing.

held these for years (since before float) - disappointed with the pace of progress (in revenue terms but not in opportunities) but still holding.

Find it hard to let go. More of a gambler than an investor I am afraid.

Rochdale,
As I understand it the contract was delayed but they have started delivering under it this year. The company still believes that it will be a very large successful relationship but there have been no updates on its potential size.

Guess the customer failed to deliver on the revenue targets

"The deal over the next seven years is worth up to £96m, subject to the customer meeting its contractual revenue targets"

anyone know any more about what happened to the massive Chinese deal - up to £96M revenue over ten years.

Did it just fall away. Cannot find any mention online since 2014.

Kromek contract

Fri 04 Apr 2014 07:30
Kromek, a supplier of patented radiation detection technologies to the medical, security and nuclear markets, has signed a long term contract with an established SME manufacturer of x-ray diagnostics and analysis equipment in China.

The contract grants the manufacturer preferential rights for the supply of Kromek's innovative CZT-based detection modules in China and Chinese territories.

These rights are for an existing medical diagnostic application with a large market potential and the exclusive supply agreement is conditional upon minimum annual revenues to Kromek. Kromek retains full rights to the product in all other territories.
