I have always said that buybacks are a great sell signal, this is a good article that explains how they destroy value. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/main.jhtml?xml=/money/2008/06/17/ccfletch117.xml

I am a keen follower of this stock. The down turn in the housing market and construction industry is hitting the company hard. Yesterday they announced the closure of their south wales plant in Blaneau Gwent: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/wales/7472008.stm They need to look hard at developing new market opportunities if they are to rebound to previous highs. While I agree this is a quality company I fear it it will stuggle to maintain current price levels and has further to fall in the short term.

I'm not qualified to give advice lochgarman (I think we all know where you're from!) but I'd suggest you order a few back copies of their annual reports.Ireland is only one (though an important ) part of the business.Perhaps take a look at the various stockbroker's research, bearing in mind they make money when you buy and sell shares.I'd also suggest reading, among others,'The Intelligent Investor' and a few of Peter Lynch's books as well.Good luck!

hi djderry......i was always very interested in investing in kingspan....i even contemplated it when the share price was around the 20 euro mark, but didnt as i didnt like the price or the whole scene in the irish construction industry. but now i am beginning to get more interested in the irish market and also this company. All the fundamentals/financials are excellent...ok, things will be rocky over the next while but, long term this is a great company and will perform very well. id say we could get shares for 3-4 euro a piece....would be great. the share buy back is been performed excellently also.

Down down down she goes - easy does it - then a Blip up and down again. The Irish Economy is fast becoming the basket case of Europe with over hyped property prices and dodgy politions - what a great mix???????

Interesting dj Have you ever considered hiring someone with out looking at their CV? Whe do you look at the CV/ if history isn't important, then how do we learn? Yes time to take the blinkers off and realise that you cannot defy gravity. KS is going down even further and even rose tinted glasses wont stop it - this doesn't mean, or is a reflection on management, its a reflection on the market and don't be an idiot and ignore charts -or history - or do so at your pearl! Temporary bounce backs will be only that until it has reached its bottom. Then the landscape will have changed and I will become a strong buyer, but not at this silly price.

Well Goggin,an interesting analysis.Charts are, you'll discover,a load of nonsense, just an attempt to see patterns where there are none.A very human desire.Think of it as someone driving using only their rearview mirror,it might tell you what's happened but it won,t tell you what's lying ahead.Anyway,on to our company.Yes,the market is pricing it as a cyclical construction company. But it's missing out on its exposure to the faster growing Central and Eastern European economies and its exposure to the climate change/carbon reduction agenda which is increasingly been driven by government.

Classic retracement - Remember this is basically a construction company trading in a major depression in construction. Forget the hype, these guys were predicting upturns all the time, it in their interest - however, the upturn wont come to 2010 when the p. cycle starts again, plenty of time to buy and 2 - 3 EURO ON THE CARDS. free stock charts from www.advfn.com

can someone explain to me, why the directors were able to receive such a large proportion of stock options recently at such a low option price of 13 cents??? it just seems so low a price to have paid??

this company was built on the back of a housing boom in the britsh isles and to a lesser extent europe. That housing boom has now turned into a slump and its going to take some time to tell the trur tale, i would safely say this company will at least half from here.
