No idea if it will turn out to be a good idea with Keller.

I have always found it difficult to sell a rising stock as it always seems to have more legs in it, but sometimes it is a good idea to take profits.

I did it on one of my big holdings recently and was rewarded when it fell back 40%. I then bought back in but unfortunately it fell another 40% due to an open offer! It has now recovered so am very happy with my sell decision.

Sometimes it can go wrong though! I only have a smallish holding here about break even so no motivation to sell.

FWIW I sold 30% recently---bought some v cheap VOD. It is your decision Jon---but it may be prudent to do so .

Wouldn't give advice as I don't know your circumstances, but I added to my existing holding recently.

Am up around 70% on this in a little over 18 months. Am considering selling 40% of my holding to bank some profits but I think it may have further to go. Any thoughts?

Keller Group plc ("Keller" or "the Group"), the international ground engineering specialist, announces that the Group has acquired Geo-Foundations Contractors, Inc. ("Geo-Foundations"), a Toronto-based specialist geotechnical contractor.
The consideration, paid in cash from the Group's existing facilities, was C$9.2m (£5.7m), including an estimated C$0.6m (£0.4m) of acquired net debt.
Geo-Foundations principally serves eastern Canada, where it offers design-build solutions to the construction and mining industries. It has built a strong engineering reputation and has grown its revenue to around C$20m (£12.4m) in 2012. The business specialises in micro-piling, ground anchors, and specialty grouting services which, whilst well established in the US, are still relatively new to the Canadian market. A combination of increasing market acceptance of these techniques in Canada, along with the introduction of ground improvement techniques and assistance from Keller's existing US business, is expected to fuel significant growth over time.
Commenting on the acquisition, Justin Atkinson, Chief Executive of Keller, said:
"Keller has worked in partnership with Geo-Foundations on a number of projects in recent years, building a relationship of mutual respect. I am confident that, together, we are well-positioned to fully exploit the opportunities in this attractive market.
"This acquisition builds on our strong track record of expanding into higher growth geographic regions through both organic growth and targeted acquisitions."

Well a bit of a muted response. But just a question of waiting. I recall the heady days some years back. The company is the same one just a lot leaner and more profitable, hense the surprise to the bottom line.

Todays trading update,

All good,

In our Interim Management Statement released on 15 November 2012 we reported
that the Group's 2012 full-year revenue was expected to be around GBP1.3bn, with
full-year profit before tax significantly above the then range of market
expectations.

Accordingly, the Board continues to expect that the full year
results will be in line with the guidance given in November.

OK---so this where we are, £6.50p ish. Could be tricky from now on as we seem to run out of steam around here. I have top sliced a few as I was a bit over loaded. Would be nice run up to that £7 mark, then I will reassess.
