15/10/2019 14:22 | Kavango takes another step towards identifying a Norilsk-type orebody at its KSZ project in Botswana Kavango has a highly attractive base metals exploration portfolio in Botswana Kavango Resources PLC - Nickel is used extensively in new generation batteries Kavango Resources PLC (LON:KAV) has commenced drilling at the first of its three targets on the Kalahari Suture Zone in Botswana. The objective of the drilling is to verify the company's geological model, aimed at discovering a Norilsk-style magmatic sulphide ore body. Kavango selected its current three drill targets following two airborne electro-magnetic surveys on its prospecting licenses and the subsequent ground-based geophysical follow up surveys and soil sampling. The one thousand meter drilling programme will seek to intersect sulphide mineralization which could provide significant evidence for the development of magmatic sulphide ore bodies similar to those currently being mined at Norilsk in Russia and Voisey’s Bay in Canada. Kavango has elected to use reverse circulation drilling, which is more cost effective, to penetrate the relatively unconsolidated Kalahari and Karoo cover for up to 200 metres. Diamond drilling will then continue into Karoo sediments, gabbros and the conductive targets to a target depth of around 400m. "We are delighted that the drilling on the first hole of this three-hole programme is now underway,” said Michael Foster, chief executive of Kavango. “If the current drilling is able to verify Kavango's geological model by intersecting metal sulphide mineralization in association with gabbroic intrusives on the KSZ, this will represent a major step forward towards the discovery of a world class, Norilsk-type, magmatic sulphide deposit in Botswana. We look forward to providing the market with further updates as this drill campaign proceeds." | skiboy10

15/10/2019 11:48 | SP ANGEL - Morning Notes Kavango Resources (KAV LN) 2.35p, Mkt Cap £3.8m – Drilling starts on the Kalahari Suture Zone in Botswana Kavango report the start of drilling on its newly defined targets on the Kalahari Suture Zone in Botwsana. The company are looking for a massive Norilsk-style magmatic sulphide ore body beneath the Kalahari sand which makes exploration and drilling more difficult than in many other settings. The three-hole ~1,000m drill program is looking for sulphide mineralization associated with gabbroic sills intruded into the Karoo sediments about 180 million years ago. The theory is that these may contain copper and nickel sulphide mineralisation similar to that discovered at Norilsk in Russia and Voisey Bay in Canada. The first target is a 10km x 6km magnetic anomaly, which is interpreted as a potential magma chamber. The other two targets relate to significant linear magnetic and conductive structures. Drilling is to be done by Reverse Circulation to drill through the relatively unconsolidated Karoo cover for up to the first 200m and then by Diamond Drilling thereafter. Water will be trucked in from a local town. Conclusion: We look forward to early indications of sulphide mineralisation relatively soon. | kdickson
15/10/2019 10:42 | Finally, lets see what they achieve here. This time round, I hope they do not bother with XRF readings and go for full assay results. After wittling targets down from an inventory of 70 to the top 3, there must be a lot of confidence they will make an intersection in one of these at the very least. Cash | cashandcard

15/10/2019 07:06 | 15 October 2019 KAVANGO RESOURCES PLC DRILLING STARTED ON THE KSZ IN SW BOTSWANA Kavango Resources plc (LSE: KAV), the exploration group listed on the Standard List segment of the main market of the London Stock Exchange and targeting the discovery of world-class copper-nickel-PGE deposits in Botswana, is pleased to announce the Company has commenced drilling at the first of its three targets on the Kalahari Suture Zone ("KSZ"). The objective of the drilling is to verify the Company's geological model, aimed at discovering a Norilsk-style magmatic sulphide ore body. As previously announced, the Company selected its current three drill targets following two airborne electro-magnetic ("AEM") surveys on its prospecting licenses and the subsequent ground based geophysical follow up surveys and soil sampling. The soil sampling tested for iron ("Fe"), copper ("Cu") and zinc ("Zn"). The approximately 1,000m drilling programme will seek to intersect sulphide mineralization associated with gabbroic sills that were intruded into the Karoo sediments about 180 million years ago. The Company believes the presence of copper/nickel sulphide mineralization in association with high-level gabbroic sills will provide significant evidence for the development of magmatic sulphide ore bodies similar to those currently being mined at Norilsk (Russia) and Voisey Bay (Canada). Kavango has elected to use reverse circulation drilling, which is more cost effective, to penetrate the relatively unconsolidated Kalahari and Karoo cover for up to 200m. Diamond (core) drilling will then continue into Karoo sediments, gabbros and the conductive targets to a target depth of around 400m. Further details of Kavango's current three drill target programme and the geological models were announced on 2 October 2019 and are provided on the Company's website at and on Twitter at @KavangoRes. Michael Foster, Chief Executive Officer of Kavango Resources, commented: "We are delighted that the drilling on the first hole of this 3 hole programme is now underway. If the current drilling is able to verify Kavango's geological model by intersecting metal sulphide mineralization in association with gabbroic intrusives on the KSZ, this will represent a major step forward towards the discovery of a world class, Norilsk type, magmatic sulphide deposit in Botswana. 12/10/2019 08:57 | mick, looking at the RNS's for the Ditau drill, I agree that we wont get an RNS Monday just to say "drilling underway". So, let's hope for trouble free drilling and the "2-3 weeks" suggested by MM, plus whatever time needed for interpretation. Either way, it is still a very cheap entry point IMO. | d220
12/10/2019 08:41 | RNS Monday? Not likely maybe 3 weeks to complete drilling then wait for results | gasmanmick
11/10/2019 15:43 | skiboy 912# Fantastic post. Explains what they are going after here and it potentially has scale if the thesis proves correct. Cash | cashandcard
11/10/2019 09:31 | So, if KAV are keeping to the timescales indicate by Mike in the last interview, drilling of the KSZ should have started, either yesterday or today. Not sure whether we will get an RNS to that effect (maybe on Monday?)or only when/if they find something. Anything that indicates that their geo model is correct will see this this much higher IMO. Just see Skiboy's previous post for possibilities! | d220
10/10/2019 18:24 | SIR - Sirius Resources had a big Cu-Ni find in Australia a few years back. They had a similar market cap and number of shares in issue to KAV and both companies were/are drilling for 'world class deposits'. Their share price went from $0.05 to $5.00 in 6 months or so following the discovery. Not saying it will happen here but this is what we are playing for... | skiboy10 |
