06/1/2012 15:35 | Me too. :O) Actually I hate it when companies say that they are cost cutting. I mean why are there costs to cut in the first place ? It seems to me that everything is cyclical anyway. In good times costs are loose whilst in bad times costs get tightened. Doesn't make sense to me. | liarspoker
06/1/2012 15:16 | I hope you are right !! | harrogate
06/1/2012 15:14 | But those are mostly temporary factors imo. Once the Euro crisis blows over and GDP starts increasing then people will spend more cash, drive more etc. Time heals all wounds ( Ok maybe not for Kodak RIP ). | liarspoker
06/1/2012 15:05 | Less miles driven, less claims since people have high excesses which hits the small very profitable repairs that used to be the cream, insurers driving cost down, technology meaning more repairs done by mobile repair firms ... No evidence that I can see that the investment in Kitemark and quality etc means that the smaller bodyshops are going out of business as we all hoped. I agree on the share price ..glad given the NARS warning that i can't see what the price might be | harrogate
06/1/2012 14:58 | Why do you think the market has changed permanantly harrogate ? Like you I spoke to management and they confirmed that they were chasing a progressive dividend. If performance has been poor then it makes sense to cut the divi. At least the daily share price won't head south. :O) | liarspoker
06/1/2012 14:54 | I think the ratios you use are wrong ..If there was any chance of them making what they made historically then the share price would have been at 70p and they wouldn't have come off AIM! The market has changed permanently in my view. Fingers crossed that you are right on the yield though but I think there is every chance that H2 2011 performance was poor and the divvy could be under threat of reduction. I hope not | harrogate
06/1/2012 14:43 | Anyone want to sell a few at 14p ? ;o) Actually mail me at MarketSwingsatYahood | liarspoker
06/1/2012 14:42 | Can't remember the exact figures but I think I bought it on a 5 year av. PTP of around 2.2X. 12%+ yield. I think fair value lies between £6m-£8m but I was buying at around £2m. Competitors going bust so growing organically and can probably also make some handsome acquisitions ( from bust competitors ) if they choose carefully. | liarspoker
06/1/2012 14:25 | It's official: I am an idiot for not buying more JCR shares when I could have. :O) | liarspoker
06/1/2012 14:15 | Average speed checks read your number plate between two cameras and calculate your average. You get a ticket over a certain speed, which used to be 10%+2, I think. So 35 in a 30 zone, 57 in a 50, and 79 on motorway and dual carriageway. (There was talk of tightening up, though.) No flashing on average checks. Ticket in the post. I'm pleased to say I've never had a speeding ticket. Not that I'm slow - just observant and lucky, it seems. | aleman
06/1/2012 13:58 | Hi Aleman, Happy New Year. As a regular traveller between Leeds and Manchester, these 3 lots of roadworks are an absolute pain in the backside. I stick the cruise control on at 54mph and assume I am OK, but then like you say there are people bombing along at 70+ and the cameras don't seem to flash. Do they flash when someone gets caught, or does the ticket just come through? I have occasionally fallen into the trap of unknowingly doing 60+ because the guy in front has sped up. 06/1/2012 12:28 | The number of drivers caught by speed cameras on part of a motorway in West Yorkshire rose by more than 1,000% in 2011, the Highways Agency has revealed. About 11,000 drivers were caught by average speed cameras at major roadworks on the M62 in 2011, compared with just 1,000 in the previous year. I go through these road works a couple of times a week. (Traffic continues to be generally quieter than previous years, I would say.)It's amazing how drivers regularly still bomb down the outside lane at 70-80mph until they get stick behind someone doing 50. Odd ones even undertake and carry on at 70+. Then there are some who do 60-65 but brake as they pass the cameras which measure AVERAGE speed. I can only conclude that the UK public is getting more stupid or more lawless or both. Last year there were spells without roadworks, as well, so it looks like 50-60 per day are being caught. They are marked clearly so what are these people thinking!? | aleman
28/12/2011 14:55 | The spell of wintery weather looks like it's being balanced out by exceptionally mild weather of late so there will probably be be no boost overall. Also, I was hoping that Brent oil would drift down to the price of WTI. THe opposite seems to be happening. Brent has eased only a touch to $107 while WTI has risen to $101. Average UK petrol prices have been stuck around 133p for months. One modest piece of good news is that car insurance rates continue to ease, albeit rather slowly. | aleman
15/12/2011 17:44 | The local ice warning has been extended to Monday, now. I think it applies all across the North of England. EDIT - it seems to cover the whole country now. There seems to be a snow warning for some Midlands areas tomorrow. | aleman
14/12/2011 16:53 | Thanks for the update mcgreen - nice to have a little bit of info to keep the shareholders here happy :) | rmillaree
14/12/2011 15:19 | Sleeting this afternoon with snow on Pennine foothills again. Temp has dropped to less than 3C in the wintry showers and ice is forecast to be a problem tonight. Haven't seen any gritters locally yet. | aleman
11/12/2011 23:21 | Unfortunately I can't say what the outcome was with the RBS tender due to confidentiality agreements. Sorry. | mcgreen
11/12/2011 16:50 | That is excellent news. I don't suppose you can tell us how the RBS tender went in terms of work volumes compared to the old contract? Also any news on work with any other majors insurers. By the way the last thing I would want to do is get you in any trouble so remember we will keep asking until you stop since we are hungry for !!! | harrogate
11/12/2011 16:30 | I believe we are about to turn a corner in trading and that the future is looking very healthy for next year. We just need to sit tight while work volumes / trading site find the correct levels. We just need to be the smartest for the longest. Retail sales were up again last month touching £130K for the group. We sold over £30K in tyres alone. Repairing over replacing has without a doubt lifted margins. We are however carrying out lots of contract repairs that tend to mean we are giving away discounts to keep the work so a the overall margin may not be lifted as much as one would expect. This has however helped protect the margins we were achieving instead of seeing a decline so it has in fact been a massive help. | mcgreen
11/12/2011 16:09 | Hi How is business I guess is what we want to know! The interims said that they had achieved £1.5m in cost savings which seems to have been done just by not replacing leavers and maybe centralising the claims management / call centre. Another big trend was the move to repair from replace parts which produces higher margin but I guess needs more training and higher skills within branch. How does the retail offering of tyres/MOT/servicing seem to be going Thanks | harrogate
11/12/2011 16:02 | Just to let you know I still log into this thread, I still work for JCC and I am still a share holder. Please feel free to ask any questions and I will endeavour to answer. Please keep this thread going, as an employee of JCC sometimes we are the last to know! | mcgreen |
