'tis but a scratch.

Read the last report to see the fantastic potential here - they lost this one but there are many more coming to a successful conclusion - that's the way of legal disputes - you don't win em all!

Excellent record - had a bad run this year.

Lots more good business being written - patience needed and strong nerves.

Time to BUY.

I don't think this is a bad company - its returns have been very decent. I am amazed however that they didn't publish an update on all of their cases and confirm there will be no dividend. The lack of clarity makes it uninvestable at the moment. Burford shows that you can operate very successfully in this sector, but equally, JILs record was for 2-3 years fantastic.

In theory this would be a great company to short if you were friends of friends in connected disputes - the large recent sell trades were probably just that!

This is a mugs investment vehicle, I do hope no one has invested money they expect a chance of a return on.

This company is becoming accident prone...

I still feel optimistic given what I hope is an oversold position & some nice earnings since the last update, meaning the yield will look very attractive.

Speedsgh,
Agreed. I see nothing in the portfolio update in June or in the interims that suggests a significant possible success, and hence dividend, any time soon. Happy to be surprised, but ....

last year's div announcement RNS was 11 November.

Yes, 20p would be jolly nice but that would be a 30% yield! If we see a divi in January I suspect it will be more modest in view of the performance in 2015.

Ditto. Fingers firmly crossed!

But am hoping some sort of update, either way...

No. Then, if a div is announced, it will be a nice bonus. #ExpectationManagement

Erm, where's my dividend announcement?

20p please, like last year.

Jest aside, is anyone expecting a bean this year?

Thanks for your response Plasybryn. I do hope you are right and that "no news is good news".

I originally bought at around 65p about 2 years ago and sold earlier this year before the 20p divi was paid at around 140p. I then bought back in,but fewer shares, after the divi payment at around 124p and have seen the price halve since then.

I suppose I should accept that I have done well overall but my enthusiasm for this non correlated asset has been dulled by the continued slide in the share price It's as if the market knows something we don't!

I'm feeling bullish.
I think I recall reading that the results of a big case are due fairly soon which could be very positive & lead to a quick re-rating.
Anyone add any detail?
I suspect they will delay announcing the Div. until after such a case is concluded and a trading update issued.
I bought more recently at what I hope is a very good price.

No sign of a divi announcement and we are well into Q4. share price now down to around 68p. Anyone still feeling bullish? The absence of an announcement of a Jan payout will lead the price lower over the coming months I reckon. Sorry to be a kill joy lads.

I've been tempted for some time but the problem with JIL is the scant information that is available. It looks very good value, but then, it did before the bad news in the summer. So I will continue to watch and wait...and probably miss out!

I purchased today. Mainly as I have a lot of cash with a lack of really compelling places to put it. For me this is all about a lack of correlation with any other asset class, not just shares.

We now know that Baillie Gifford have been reducing their holding quite substantially. I wonder if they have finished yet?

They consider the dividend announcement around the end of Q3/beginning of Q4 when they have sight of the likely full yr. performance.
So no reason to think we won't get one this year as normal.
The Yield should look pretty good given the current share price IMO.
