And you definitely can't accuse jpr of flip-flopping. It's more one direction than a breathless boy-band, going down, dependably down, constantly exploring new depths of uselessness.

EGM letter finally sent. Think we now need to see some concrete proposals from CAH.

Reading the front page article (Business section) in the Times it seems the vikings idea to put forward Steve Auckland as a non exec director while still keeping Cashley in situ, thereby no poison pill to swallow being the thinking, causing Cashley to say " I don't see how Auckland and Salmon would do anything different" [to improve the way Johnston is run]."This avalanche of publicity, it's never ending onslaught on Jpr putting the running of it under the microscope. The Viking said he has " lined up" asset managers and private equity firms but it seems to me that's not a done deal yet, may be It's me certainly putting Auckland in as a non exec to chase could be explosive.

Eddy: I want you in the front row(directly in front of Cashley) at the forthcoming(hopefully!) EGM. We’ll all appreciate your special manner of greeting (particularly the Viking). Unfortunately I doubt that Bernie will be there: we are so due some news next week...

Tks for your comments on Auckland: will do a bit of research. ATB.

I can't believe they haven't figured out how to properly monetise the web yet. Surely the share price will go through the roof if they find a way to boot out AH.

Well eddy your right I did have a punt just to see if I can make a little in the melee to come, ... to have and hold forever because this is the journey of my dreams, that maybe going too far but you get my drift.I have to admit I find Salmonds name disconcerting but as said many a twist between cup and lip so no worries there then. The publicity surrounding Jpr is welcome but little, well nothing touching on the bond repayment, I prefer silence to bullish statements and why spend more on equity if the plan is not in place ?Just an aside I've decided to brew my own ginger ale and bottle it in anticipation that you could be right. Possibly.

You've hit the nail on the head there Eddy: fine for the current PR battle but when it gets serious they'll get someone else capable of executing their plan. Still so much going on and I suspect that the Viking is just getting properly started. What about this Steve Auckland guy? The write-ups suggest that he is a bit of a legend: anyone know anything about him?

Clearly fish-face sees jpr as a platform for him to spout his dubious views, since the electorate have decided that they don't want to hear them anymore. He's the wrong choice for chairman. jpr needs someone with meaningful media industry connections and a vision for the future from a new-technology and social change point of view. Hopefully when it comes to filling the actual role the viking and auckland will find the right person. Right now the ex-politician is useful for column inches publicising the corporate battle and nothing else.

Salmond as Chairman? Only JPR could finish up having an ex politician/horse racing newspaper tipster/high life party lover in hock to a Norwegian who knows more about fish than newspapers. Has Osborne's ambitions inspired him?

You have a point there extra. But bernie has proven his fallibility. And I imagine his stake is too big for a situation where he won't be calling the shots. I'm guessing it'll be a roller coaster ride and he won't be able to get out at the top with a huge holding anyway. How's the letter coming along? Has it been delivered?

Hi stdyeddy,

Much as I like the sound of your 40p, I doubt whether CA would have been selling down if it thought this was remotely likely ...;-<<br />
Let's see what happens. I have a small 'for fun' stake.

Looks like the viking munches poison pills for breakfast. A big day coming up if the report below is true. Hold onto your hats:

hxxp://www.thenational.scot/news/15637651.Attempted_takeover_of_The_Scotsman_by_Alex_Salmond_team_begins_today/

I particularly liked this bit of personality:
An insider linked to the consortium said: “A few weeks ago Ashley Highfield was saying that Alex Salmond wasn’t involved in any such deal. Then he was saying there was no such bid coming in and that there would be no EGM. Well, he’s going to get a nasty surprise on Friday.

“No doubt he’ll say that the status quo will prevail, but with his penchant for wrong predictions it looks like he’ll be wrong again.”

I've got a feeling this is going to be a great ride. Good luck everyone.

15% of the company traded today and the price has stayed firm. So presumably the sellers (probably CA plus one other) have found an immediate buyer. I'm guessing CA is out now. The viking must surely be hovering under the compulsory bid level by now. Am sure there must be another buyer somewhere. A lot of the shares have changed hands lately and I think it's more than 30%. Who else is buying? Anyone know?

I think Custos may actually hold 28% shares , RNS 4.5 River and Mercantile million shares sold reduced holding, RNS today CA reduced about 8.5 million Artemis are no longer showing has a major shareholder so can only assume have sold there stock 4.95%,

This evening JPR web shows the following ,

Custos Equity AS 12.57%
Ananda Krishnan Tatparanandam / PanOcean Management Ltd 10.63%
Crystal Amber Fund Limited 10.48%
Majedie Asset Management Limited 9.87%
Sir Raymond Stanley Tindle 6.00%
River and Mercantile Asset Management LLP 4.16%

Surely has to be an RNS tomorrow been in the press today saying Custos now holds 20% but no RNS ........... very interesting where's the other 8 million shares from Artemis and River Mercantile gone if not Custos ...

Lol - did sense before and was reported that CA and Custos were not working together and different approaches think CA and agree they will sell down and out leaving Custos - meaning its all down to him and cohorts - tarnished reputation for CA - but did state that the JPR board will be difficult to work with and only a hostile approach albeit legally will be tough to oust the board with the poison pill. Certainly interesting

Looks like ginger beardy is throwing in the towel. I suspect he'll be out altogether before the end of next week. Evidently he didn't enjoy the 10min walk to mr angry's office. No rns for mr angry. Bad reporting by the telegraph perhaps?

So onto the results. They wouldn't be so bad if jpr wasn't an advertising business...

Hi all,

CA appears to be scaling back its interest - from 18.15 % to 10.48%, per today's RNS.....

I wonder where the shares went ?
