19/10/2017 10:35 | It wouldn't surprise me if AH has not already made his order to Amazon for his gardening books as the attempts on his reign grow. More on Arash Potpourri Ash Pournouri is a serial entrepreneur who’s always had a passion for business. Unfortunately, he was plagued with misfortune early in his career. His first project, a software solution to help protect computer users from getting their files shared illegally, failed to raise funding. His second project, software that would enable high quality music to be streamed on mobile devices, was stolen from him. His third project, a wireless backup solution for mobile phones, amounted to nothing after he paid developers $90,000 to develop the software, which ultimately didn’t work. It was these failures that helped Pournouri realize the importance of having total creative control and being completely hands-on with his projects, an attitude he brought with him when he began working with Avicii. As you said eddy why indeed but its early days. | dazzaa
19/10/2017 09:00 | Just reading (actually listening using Audible app and he is the narrator) Ray Dalio's recent book "Principles" very interesting. He goes through his life and investment principles in broad outline, with a more detailed book on his investment principles to follow soon. It is particularly interesting to hear how close he is to policymakers, and how he has achieved the holy grail of investment success - generating alpha with low risks. Anyone here invested in Bridgewater? | checkers2
19/10/2017 00:18 | Ahh I see. Well only bills through the door today dazz. Anyway, latest jpr news is pretty much everything we've already heard about the imminent viking letter but with a little extra detail on his dreamteam for the board: In their place, the Norwegian businessman plans to nominate himself as chairman; Steve Auckland, the former Metro (Dusseldorf: 62M.DU - news) and Local World chief; Ash Pournouri, a music industry executive; and Michael Nouril, a partner at the law firm Mishcon de Reya. All of that from: Now I can see why a lawyer might be useful, especially for kicking some of the inept current management out and getting good terms with... well everyone really, but the appointment of this potpourri person looks like Arash move. I'd rather see bernie having a say in installing someone a bit closer to the media business. Presumably the logic will be revealed. Hopefully, this week AH and co will be singing: Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane Ain't got time to take a fast train Lonely days are gone, I'm a-goin' home My baby, just-a wrote me a letter... | stdyeddy
18/10/2017 20:47 | No don't give up eddy I need the edginess you give to the postings.Yes your post alluding to the dietary requirements deserved more attention hence my call to Alfred To forward your name for the Nobel prize in medicine, Alfred is his great great great great nephew who happens to share my passion for online cribbage.Obviously I can't predict the committees nomination but in the online cribbage world I'm held in high esteem, I'll say no more but look out for the envelope. It's the MagĂc 20p I want it to reach and a gentle start from there. | dazzaa
18/10/2017 19:38 | omg One letter typo from T to J and she has a hissy fit!!! ;) | debbie_does_dallas_twice
18/10/2017 17:59 | Okay, I give up. I've spent a day and a half in a fruitless attempt to figure out who Alfred is. Please explain dazz. Could be that I'm still suffering from the confusion caused by Debbie's invocation of the national union of teachers. Why does she expect them to bale out newspapers? This board is getting too surreal, even for me. Good volume today and ready buyers by the look of the blue line. Anyone know anything? | stdyeddy
16/10/2017 17:09 | Eddy I wrote this seconds after he posted but pulled it. In many ways you are correct but the process has to begin, finance, rebalance the Board, new culture in the workplace etc etc. As regards readers lost for ever I look at the i under Oliver Duff and his team but you say once quality newspapers by that do you mean the Scotsman or the scores of local papers whose reader were leaving in droves anyway and not only JPR titles. | dazzaa
16/10/2017 14:22 | I do not disagree with that Lord c. I would say that We as shareholders are not a charitable provider of local newspapers . Neither are we responsible that these loss making papers are staffed to the hilt with NUT member making a nice living and pension whilst jpr owners (shareholders) 99.99% enjoy loss of capital. The NUT can cry all they want about the need for local newspaper but did they take place in any fundraising with regards JPR debt in the past to help secure the local papers futures?? | debbie_does_dallas_twice
16/10/2017 13:05 | The main issue facing JPR is financial / capital structure. 8.7pc annually on 220m debt. Ashley is not a mug, he gets the big picture. Keep servicing the debt and he keeps his 400k gig. He gave up on the shares years ago. That all changes now. | albert zog
16/10/2017 12:37 | The current BoD deserve all they have coming to them. They claim to have the support of the majority of shareholders.... absolute tosh! Their mis-management has resulted in the decimation of the shareprice.... How and why would any genuine shareholder be in support of that??? I cannot remember the last time I saw a directors buy. All the shares they hold are the result of ill-gained, self sanctioned bonuses - and they have subsequently elected to have their bonuses paid in cash! Where is this shareholder alignment...??? Good luck Ager-Hansen. Bring it on! | ianio5691

16/10/2017 09:37 | This company has higher debt now than after its last refinancing ! And until recently the share price was c10p. Read the report and accounts and find any reference to shareholders, or the share price. Two brokers, two lawyers, Rothschild, registrars, and the rest. So the situation is unpalatable. I suspect the last straw for many was also the crazy cash bonus plan mooted for Cashley this year. | albert zog
16/10/2017 09:34 | 18p paid. Can see this in the 20's by close of play. | ianio5691 |
