This is somewhat a bizarre situation.
If you look at all those 3.5 mil blocks it adds up to roughly the 20% CA hold.
There is a possibility that they have sold out completely?

The MM are not mugs and would not have bought them for 15p if they did not have a home for them, but a couple of things really do not add up.

Last Wednesday 3 blocks of 3.5mil showed up on the trades list. CA RNS suggested one was a sale by them and Custos RNS that he had bought one.
Now bearing in mind that the likelihood of another seller appearing at the same time selling the same size 3.5 mill blocks, that leave one on Wednesday and about 4-5 since that so far have not been RNS?

It could well be that Custos now holds nearly 29%
It is very intriguing, normally you would outright say CA selling is not a great sign but why is Custos buying?

I'm slightly confused by this, but first thoughts i have is CA do not like the D4E deal and so a view a bird in the hand ....whilst cutos is prepared for the long game...

But you have to presumes all those 3.5 mill blocks are from CA and i would expect further RNS from them and hopefully cutsos!!!

I lowered my exposure by 100k @ circa 15p this morning that i had picked up at 12p recently.
Mixed signs, but could still react to any RNS from custos if it was so to appear!!!!

Eddie ‘tis indeed good to have your thoughts, I thought jpr had driven you to the edge but it was only out of the country, Interesting job though, now, if only I had spent the money on REE’s.

Does the share price tell us anything or everything, so much happening, the drip feed of information keeps us in suspense.

I've read somewhere that TNI has £430 m deficit in its pension scheme but still charges ahead buying the express so no negativity or lack of confidence there, with consolidation in the industry gathering momentum no one knows who will be in bed with whom and for how long but enthusiasm abounds world wide.

As you know I'm no technocrat or want to be but if the Bond holders are repaid or agreement reached by JPR with the help of their pension trustees or others, the Scandinavian proves half his words by getting his mates to buy the bonds.

CA and others are major shareholders, with the shares are being tossed about like confetti why the buying interest in them [shares] if the bondholders are key to the demise why would you buy to be worthless?

For my money the company will survive that may be hope rather than judgement but based on following JPR through its tribulations it is a survivor.

Obviously the shares do have a value: 16p a share on Friday.
This 16p will rise with more news on such subjects as

a) more big sales of titles (like Scotsman)
or
b) more purchases by "big Investors" (nordic or CA or a.n. other)
or
c) more news like TNI tie-in
or
d) more printing contracts to print copies of Daily Mail or other newspapers
or
e) i circulation or adverting revenue increase or sunday edition printed
or
f) Share graph shape since June 2016 is a double bottom
or
g) the Big one - News on debt refinancing

Short to medium term there are more stories that could send this share price north then there are ones to send it south...

Hence the share price has value. Take this snippet from yesterdays Daily Telegraph:

Johnston Press, Trinity Mirror’s rival in the regional market, is seeking a debt restructuring as a Norwegian investor builds a large stake. Trinity Mirror, which will provide a trading update tomorrow, declined to comment.

Found a copy, very much rumour at the moment. It says a major shareholder would consider an offer as part of the restructuring if the price is right.

£10m is probably a fair price in today's market. Think they paid 160m for it but that is all irrelevant now, my decision to invest was based on current worth. Company is technically still worthless even if it doubles in value but I would be more than happy with that!

Lord C.>>> curtains

Banks would snaffle the lot.

New shareholders/bondholders would be re-doing their calculations and end up rather unhappy. As I keep on saying IMO these shares have no value.

£10m would be a big sum to a company just valued at £17m

Rumour (trade tittle tattle) has it that JPR paid £125m for The Scotsman and that it now not worth £10m.
Someone with better knowledge than I please comment.
The new shareholders might just have a view on a firesale.......

Right so Custos has increased by 4.8 million shares, this would make at least 6 million unaccounted for?
Looking at the dates he bought, it says 4th and 5th so it was his AT bot that was soaking the sells up at 16.75p/ 17p on Wednesday and it looks like he took one of those 3.5 millions yesterday.

I wonder if we are going to see a new holder on the book or maybe CA have increased?
Interesting stuff, Custo's would not be throwing his hard earned away if he did not see value at JPR!
Remember he has had two meetings with the bod also and a D4E plan is apparently on the table with the pension trustees.

Sicknote: I made 70% last time JPR got into the 20s. Hoping it does it again. Things certainly appear to be coming to a head (but could go other way - so only worth the odd grand or two - nothing heavy)

Well done with ZOO - I'm still very happy with WEY (it can pay my mortgage off..... But I'm holding for at least 10 years - If it explodes its going to take years, not days)

I think you'll like RED (REDT).... It could easily do a zoo (in the next few weeks - I kid you not)

s34icknote: You can sit back and smirk - you must have made (and are continuing to make) a small fortune on ZOO - WELL DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm just scratching around trying to make the odd penny or two by comparison with yourself.

I hope JPR have given ZOO a good write-up on their finance pages

Cheers Net!

PS - TNI have now put the Surrey Advertiser into "standard size" (like Dail Mirror - no longer a BIG PAPER).... So I guess all papers can now use the same printers...

Will JPR get some orders from TNI (Trinity Mirror Group)

I have to say I agree with Maffa. For CA to make money on their investment the share price will need to be 50p or more (because when they sell the share price will fall - so price needs to be significantly higher than they paid - not just the odd penny or two)...
The question is how does CA get the price to 50p and does Custos have the same plan?

Who are the BIG debt owners? Who owns the debt? That is the part of the jigsaw that is missing. Are they the same people who are selling the shares?

From LSE board (by Maffa entitled ORBIS)

JPR largest shareholder at the time sold the lot to CA. Custos has probably got AK's holding - yet to be confirmed. Calculate what both in total put into JPR and the pittance they got back over many years holding and ask why would they... why not hold and enjoy the ride. The phenomenal investment that AK at the time put into JPR - calculate that - fraction of a percentage back and he is a billionaire. Have a balanced view and perhaps think why these have sold out and crystallised losses. Even better try and calculate in particular what AK invested in JPR in total

Is a good starting point. I understand it is where it goes from here that matters but why bail and let CA and Custos get a decent return (if that happens). Not sure what CA's average - perhaps some research but they will be 'underwater' certainly.

All we can say for certain is if SOMEONE SOLD then SOMEONE MUST HAVE BOUGHT THEM.
So should be TWO RNS

Deb - how you you know it's AK's holding - cannot see an RNS or just speculating - surprised if it is but find out soon. If Custos has bought at least two activists leading the charge great if they agree with each other - not too sure on that but time will tell. Fair volume at 12 and does explain the move 12-18 on no news - MM facilitating this.

Long term holders Dazza et al - AK sold out what a massive loss he has crystallised how much when they came on the scene did they place into JPR and how much did they get - real chump change. Terrible investment for them on an epic scale. Why do they not see a future to ride this I wonder - why now? Superimposed on this why did Orbis sell out too to CA? Interesting explains the share price moves by the MM because in no way on no news 12 - 18 in a very short space of time was justified
