Hi eddy, as always we shall see and as said probably the usual tripe tomorrow but I hope that there might be a glimmer on how we reduce the debt.

Good day to bury bad news. No one will be talking about anything other than brexit. jpr's usual sorry performance will not be visible in mainstream news. The numbers aren't going to be very important anyway. Generally we get continuing decline of overall revenue and sometimes increasing percentage on profitability. The key news will be around the business strategy and any appointments or leavers from the main board. Good luck to everyone long.

Regarding some post which regards JPR as a family company, i sadly disagree. The Johnston family have no management function now.

Sunday i would be a positive announcement. I'm new to the jpr party and seems I got in at the wrong time (28p). Doesn't sound like you're expecting any fireworks the ? I can live in hope

Obiwoncanary, I think as per all the updates from the last few years they will be pretty disappointing with a continued decline in print and advertising, probably partially masked by a good performance from The I.

Things I am interested in seeing which might push the share price upwards:
- Have they noticed an upturn since Google's problems escalated? Doubt this will be longterm if there is an upturn.
- What are their plans for the debt This could be interesting as I havent seen anything from CA recently so I am hoping that they have met with Ashley Highfield and have an agreement of some sort. There is also the debt review from Rothschilds as well.
- Are there anymore disposals lined up?
- Maybe an announcement of the launch of a Sunday version of The I

Surely a positive announcement will see a upturn in sp? I'm not saying there will be a positive announcement, I just hope there is :-)

This Google furore will give a temporary boost as people need to spend their ad budgets somewhere. It will all blow over soon enough but hopefully a few agencies will keep a mix of ad media in future.

CGOD, I agree, that is the general tendency once a share has risen before the results often to attract the buyers in.

I've sold here, and tni too, going to watch and wait and play the timing game again, America raising interest rates, economy slowing just feel its safer to be out. Plus clearly there is going to be no overnight cure here unless change is made at the top, Ashley and his fellow employees at the top are all having a good time on JPR's credit card, I can't see them being weaned of that anytime soon.

For example JPR may have had an offer on the table but could have refused on the basis they feel they can turn it around, it is a long standing family business that will resist a takeover unless their hand is forced. IMHO.

On a positive note, the I weekender had over 20 pages of advertising, that must be a record.

Netcurtians, I've got a big position here and in the short term I'll be holding or even adding as JPR is only going up.However, this is a sunset business that won't be around forever. Your suggestion that online advertising will slow down and ad buyers will return to the print press is complete nonsense.

Its time some one smelt the coffee - Ads need to be WANTED... They only really work in magazines and Newspapers - especially HOME and GARDEN sections - but probably MOTOR too and MUSIC of course - plays and theatre.

Its not rocket science - its has to be newspapers. What the industry needs is cheap embedded chips in wafer thin , bendy white material that can be used to read papers - a big big brother to the kindle - so we can watch video clips in our 'papers' (as seen on Harry Potter)...

The industry NEEDS to CLUB together and produce a NEWSPAPER KINDLE - you can read your papers on-line but only via NEWSPAPER TECH - A NEWSPAPER KINDLE.

Like the Daily Mirror once produced the Mirror Dinghy, the big players need to produce a News Paper Kindle.

Google is old failed tech. IT DOES NOT WORK as an advertising medium..

Get out there journalists and reclaim what is yours!

Lord C: dont know why you (or others) marked down my "House and Garden" comment. It has a circulation in millions and a cover price of around £5... When newspapers have GOOD QUALITY "House and Garden" sections their NEW readership goes up. This market is huge!!!

Will be interesting to see if Google's problems give JPR a bit of a boost, especially advertising in The i.

For sure our market has been falling, but there are whole new sections of people buying papers that never used to... Especially for house and homes sections..... If you buy the magazine it costs about £5 - papers often throw these sections in for "free" - its a booming sector... My wife has only recently been buying papers and purely because the Sunday Times has an excellent house and homes section

Mali, I'm sorry that call was not rocket science given JPR's track record in providing shareholder value and it was clear to everyone at the time the great online investment was never going to provide immediate gains in the short term.

So why are you here then other than to gloat? you should be enjoying your profits in the Bahamas. I take it you're short now then? Good luck with that.

value king: Look no further than ADVFN giving JPR a PE ratio of 1.9 (TNI isn't much higher, both look like steals at these prices)

Results two weeks away, profit taking done?

We might soon see what's given Crystal Amber reason to buy over 21% of the company.
