Trading Update

The Board of John Lewis of Hungerford plc (AIM:JLH) provides an update on trading for its financial year ended 31 August 2017.

Our performance in the second half year, traditionally our stronger trading period, was in line with expectations announced in May. Based on unaudited management information, we expect to report sales for the full year of GBP8.2 million (2016: GBP8.2 million) and a small operating profit. As previously announced, in the prior year we took the decision to close our showrooms in Tunbridge Wells and Harrogate. Both ceased trading by 31 December 2016 and, after adjusting for the effect of these closures, the underlying sales growth for the year is around 4%.

The Board has separately announced today the appointment of James Barnard as a new non-executive director.
