PRESS: Jimmy Choo Rejects Co-Founder's Competition Charges - The Times

LONDON (Alliance News) - Jimmy Choo PLC has disputed claims made by co-founder Tamara Mellon that the company is engaging in anti-competitive behaviour in an attempt to hurt the new business she has set up, The Times reported Wednesday

The FTSE 250-listed shoe retailer said it rejected all allegations that it was insisting that Italian leather suppliers did not work with the Tamara Mellon brand as a condition of keeping its business.

Mellon left Jimmy Choo and in 2013 launched her own fashion label, but the performance of the business has been mixed, the paper said, and it has faced production problems in Italy.

35 new stores opening in August as Livermore's Outlet center expands
Now called San Francisco Premium Outlets, center is adding 185,000 square-feet

Livermore's outlet center at El Charro Road and I-580, now renamed San Francisco Premium Outlets, will open a new 185,000 square-foot addition Aug. 13, with 35 new stores coming to the new section before the Christmas holidays.

The expansion will boast additional luxury and designer names, including the first outlet location from international fashion house Dsquared, as well as A/X Armani Exchange, CH Carolina Herrera, Ermenegildo Zegna, Jimmy Choo, Rag & Bone New York, Scotch & Soda, Ted Baker London, Tory Burch, UGG Australia, Versace and Vince.

"Mellon Puts Legal Boot Into Jimmy Choo"

Jimmy Choo's founder is accusing the company of anti-competitive behaviour designed to hurt her new label, Sky News learns.

Tamara Mellon, the businesswoman who built Jimmy Choo into a global brand, is launching a legal battle against her former company amid allegations of anti-competitive practices that were aimed at thwarting her new fashion label.

Sky News has learnt that lawyers acting for Ms Mellon wrote to Jimmy Choo this week accusing it of obliging leading Italian leather suppliers to commit not to work with Tamara Mellon Brand LLC, a luxury fashion house she launched in 2013.

The letter from Olswang, a prominent law firm, is understood to allege that Ms Mellon's new company has been "unable to secure suitable production capacity for…luxury leather products and (its) business consequently has been impaired" as a result of pressure from Jimmy Choo, according to a person with knowledge of its content.

The restrictions imposed by Jimmy Choo on Florence-based leather suppliers were in breach of EU anti-trust laws, the letter alleged, the person said.

The legal action is the latest twist in a tumultuous relationship between Ms Mellon and Jimmy Choo, which she helped to create after meeting the label's eponymous co-founder while working at the UK edition of Vogue magazine.

..... a Jimmy Choo spokesman said: "We have received a letter which is being evaluated.

"Our initial assessment is that the complaint has no merit and will be vigorously contested. We plan to make no further comment until the process is completed."

Strange the second largest shareholder went over 5% last week.

Another scenario could be a concerted shorting attack back below the 140p float price before an opportunist takeover offer at say 175p/180p

Well definitely not bottom yet !!

Nearly all sells this morning and people are taking 149p now.

Back to the 140p float price almost a certainty so a few in at the start last october are taking what little profit is left.

I`ll add again but definitely not yet awhile
