On Newsnight today that electric cars will be cheaper in the UK than petrol or diesel by 2020, so killing off the latter and killing oil demand. The North Sea is finished.

Tugs listed to move the TO Spitsbergen, just one more well for Statoil now and then it will be time for Verbier.

"Azinor Catalyst Limited ("Azinor") has stated its intention to drill an exploration well the Partridge prospect (previously named Homer) on Licence P.1989, Blocks 14/11, 12 & 16 later this year. Further to the terms of the farm-out announced by the Company on 5 January 2016, subject to a discovery being made that satisfies certain technical criteria, a payment of US$2m would be due to the Company from Azinor, and, should that discovery subsequently result in a formal Field Development Plan being approved, a further cash payment of US$2m would also be triggered".

Azinor appear to be hiring ships to support Ocean Guardian, might this be for the Partridge?

TransOcean Spitzbergen is on the Mariner field.

hxxps://www.oilandgaspeople.com/news/14574/statoil-readies-for-three-well-ukcs-campaign/

Early this month, the Transocean Spitsbergen semisubmersible drilling rig will spud the first well, Mariner Segment 9, which could prove additional resources and increase the extent of the Mariner heavy oil field. It is due to take 15-25 days.

The rig will then move to Jock Scott, a prospect on the underexplored margins of the Viking Graben, east of Shetland, with drilling there expected to take 20-40 days.

The last well of the campaign will be the Verbier prospect in the Moray Firth area. Verbier is expected to take 30-70 days to drill. Partner Jersey Oil & Gas has said Verbier could contain 162 MMboe mean prospective resources and that it could be one of the most exciting wells in the UK North Sea of recent years.

The entire campaign is expected to take about two to three months.

It is getting closer!

Eh? I was saying that you shouldn't read too much into the fact that they've planned the sidetrack because that's a given.

How do you know they have not planned the sidetrack? Or is this just a de-ramp?

Surely planning for the sidetrack is what they should be doing? Not much point drilling a successful well then deciding that they should have planned for a sidetrack to explore.

Still nobody focussing on the possible sidetrack. Personally I believe that this speaks volumes about Statoil's expectations for the drill result. Will be interesting to see if Malcy pushes this point in his update later today/tomorrow.

Personally cant see this down trend lasting to long, maybe some punters chasing the quick $$$$ elsewhere in the meantime but as we all know with such a small amount of shares in circulation anything can happen and have a dramatic effect very quickly.

I wouldn't be sitting on the fence with this one that's for sure!
