JDW is emerging as a category killer. The downbeat reaction to the last results was driven by the lack of news on the dividend and I suspect the dividend will not be reinstated anytime soon if they get the chance to pick over S&L, which is no problem by me as i'd rather earnings were reinvested the business.

TM is a good capital allocator and I wish he'd stop banging on about Brexit, C19 restrictions, VAT on food etc and get on with the business. All businesses face challenges. Simples. He should focus on what he can control and forget about the rest.

Moving boards, just had a peep at the other one after a day of egg rolling ( got a tip today that easter eggs in plastic bags wrapped tight keep things clean.... goose / dog / etc waste material )..... imo a little too many posts on other board at the moment. Hope this one stays relevant to JDW. On that point I see that JDW currently pays staff no lower than above the new minimum wage. I was first thinking that the new minimum wage rise would cost them more than perhaps it might now I have checked the rates JDW pay.

EI, I've not had a chance to look at the JDW results with a clear mind after the shock of ACRL this morning.
I would say Tim and his friends run JDW to their own tune. JDW have kept a lid on the price rises and have room to increase prices, almost at will, as they are the cheapest by far in the industry

"A 2% price increase at the till has a 40% drop through to profits"
Time 16:40

I do not know how accurate that 2% number is but IMO JDW have room to push prices up as inflation drops, boosting margins to historical levels.
I don't hold JDW at the moment but may jump back in if JDW start the share buyback again. NLW increase is a negative headwind across the whole service sector so JDW may drift lower still in the short term.
Euro 24 in the summer should also boost interest.

Once he just talked JDW pubs on this thread, then turned, why one must ask?

£14 down to £6, must have triggered his mentality, just threatening people now.

The same Gozzie2 claiming by insinuation (I believe), that I had denied Covid?

He needs to quantify that, as I was one of the first in France to receive the covid jab!

It's true, as stated by me, that there were some in our village reluctant, but we avoided the issue. adjacent village, one Nurse went down with covid, but survived without help.

Seems that he should have turned the tables at £5!

A classic whinging loser. Fisticuffs threats, easy, inform ADVFN, soon removed.

Forget him. I've watched JDW for some time, I think 769 is good.

Opinions welcome.

cheers

G'day,

I take that many on here are more interested in tittle/tattle.

If you had followed me into JDW @ 769, you would be winning not whinging.

Both JDW & WTB (no posn) racing ahead despite the UK budget.

Take note.

Reckon we will know the business done over this coming weekend come next Friday. I say that as all my (old) mates know about the £2.99 Guiness offer and are not holders. I just wonder if a mention of a dividend will be made on the 22nd. Given the buybacks has been on hold of late and with the budget helping, and price increases of late then you never know. I still have in my mind the 2% price increase equating to 40% extra profits such are the numbers with this business. I did half expect for the share price to touch £7.30 and had funds awaiting the bots pushing it down to this level. Parked these monies in oilers for the moment and still ready to add if the share price goes down again. On balance I would anticipate w/e 29/3 should see the share price around the £8.30 level..... It's just too good a company and my target is much higher than the current level.... Great beer and food to add.... What's not to like about JDW.

Seems a national offer excluding airport's...... subject to availability though. I suspect the trick is to get the ordering of barrels of Guiness right as at that price they will be very very very busy. The staff will be run off their feet that weekend, though lots of new customers will be introduced to JDW so long term it will be a winner. Reckon the opposition will be be selling Guinness twice or more of what JDW price point is. Great move and JDW have the muscle / leverage to make this work.... great publicity for the brand.

I have just looked back over the last 9 years of RNS
JDW have a long history of buybacks. Pre covid JDW were doing buybacks most years. Some last only a couple of weeks, others last a couple of months.
It is very unlikely JDW will buy the full 15% they are authorised to do.
In 2019 JDW were paying as high as 1530p for buybacks

tongosti:
The JDW and JET2 charts since October 26th lows look very similar (+29%)
I hold £1 in JDW for every £10 in JET2.
I am thinking of rebalancing 1:1 and maybe more weighted towards JDW.

Its another 25% higher until Jet2 hits post covid highs.
70% until JDW hits post covid highs.
50% vs 100% on 5 year highs

Since JDW started buybacks the rate of incline has accelerated.
