21/9/2005 16:31 | that was via mainstream Barclays....who are very conservative as u know lets see what tomorrow brings off now, cool beer waiting ;O) | abcd1234
21/9/2005 16:30 | 2500 is five times the NMS quoted on the quote page, I doubt it's that high in reality, otherwise the bot would probably be taking bigger chunks. All very odd. | mad4it
21/9/2005 16:27 | i was getting 2500 auto quoted for a fixed price (1/2 p off ask), any higher was at best or on a limit basis | abcd1234
21/9/2005 16:25 | Ahh, yes, you're right, but why not just set up an iceberg bot and make it less obvious, or perhaps there is an iceberg bot running at some point...I'm not really investigating as thoroughly as I should, I'm just a bit bored today! lol! What's the typical quoted NMS ? | mad4it
21/9/2005 16:24 | 1st 311 just showed up, then 1 or 2 more b4 onto 312 if the order has not been completed b t w....the 200 tranches ran in the same pattern 202, 202, 203 203, 204 204, 205 etc etc....with the bot set at 60- second intervals, i watched with interest knowing there was some oreder present, but there were pi's who were really moving it at the same time | abcd1234
21/9/2005 16:23 | and there it was just 1 more then onto 312 shares it's a BUYbot generally seen on larger sets stocks, and more often than not filling the BUY side of the order book in tranches of 2500 or whatever until order filled | abcd1234
21/9/2005 16:22 | no at the mo u have a BUYbot running every 30secs, running 2 buys at each price next is second 310 in 30 secs then again or a 311 | abcd1234
21/9/2005 16:14 | Typo - Yeah, that would make sense, but I'm intrigued to know what all those 200(ish) tranche share deals are and why they all appeared at once. Also, none of the MMs on L2 are quoting a NMS, which is also very odd, there were also what appeared to be lots of rogue orders appearing on the book, also quoting a zero tranche size. Weirder & weirder. | mad4it
21/9/2005 16:09 | mad4IT, I wasn't watching before the auction was triggered so didn't see what caused it, but I imagine it was due to an order being placed on one side that could only be filled at a price more than 5% (?) from the LAT. | typo56
21/9/2005 16:06 | ok. anyway seems to have peaked lets see what follow up there is | abcd1234
21/9/2005 16:04 | Yeah, I've got AFN L2, but I haven't been following JD. and I wasn't watching when it spiked. | mad4it
21/9/2005 16:02 | mad4it, are u running a level 2 platform (advfn or anybody elses)? | abcd1234
21/9/2005 15:59 | Look at all those weird share deal sizes earlier, all around the 200(ish) tranche size, very strange, but there still wasn't really the demand to cause an intraday auction, under normal circumstances anyway, so it's all a bit odd. | mad4it
21/9/2005 15:52 | agreed, hence the earlier auction | abcd1234
21/9/2005 15:50 | I doubt that the MMs know much - it's a SETSmm stock and the MMs ran for cover when direct access punters pushed it up | typo56
21/9/2005 15:48 | it was pi's who forced the earlier halted Auction on level2, i watched it coming, but did not want to buy any, after pentlands offer last time perhaps it's someone else but how do they get around pentlands majority holding | abcd1234
21/9/2005 15:41 | I'd guess it's the MMs who've heard the rumour & have moved the price up accordingly, I doubt it has anything to do with retail investors. | mad4it
21/9/2005 15:38 | yeah but where's the info, all bb's are quiet on it so whats driving the small pi's who've been buying this pm | abcd1234
21/9/2005 15:37 | I'd speculate it's gotta be a strong bid rumour just hitting the market. | mad4it
21/9/2005 15:23 | odd spike, but i cant find news any info as to whats driving it?? | abcd1234
21/9/2005 15:10 | whats up here??....any ideas | abcd1234
18/5/2005 11:30 | Doesn't sound as though the Pentland bid is going to succeed, does it? Presumably, Madgooner, you assume that price will drop further if/when bid is pulled? | samg99
14/5/2005 16:20 | The Directors thought it worth getting out at 211.2, Says something about prospects and confidence in the future IMO. Given it'll be a private subsudiary in effect, this looks likely to drift down in medium term. Looking at possible short post offer. | madgooner
19/2/2005 01:23 | JD Sports uncovers drug connection to gift voucher scam By Caroline Muspratt (Filed: 19/02/2005) - The Telegraph Sportswear chain JD Sports has been forced to change its refund policy after it emerged criminals were using its store gift vouchers to buy drugs. Tim Edwards, the company's loss control director, said the chain had "tightened up its refund policy" and would no longer offer gift vouchers in exchange for items brought back without a receipt, after it uncovered "some fairly major fraud". Thieves were stealing goods from one JD Sports store and returning them to another, claiming thousands of pounds of gift vouchers in exchange. Mr Edwards said: "As part of the investigation we have uncovered a drug connection with some of the people bringing goods back. "The vouchers were being used as currency at 50pc of their face value to acquire drugs." A police investigation is ongoing, Mr Edwards said. JD Sports, which is owned by the John David Group, has not put a figure on the money it has lost, though a spokesman said it would have "no material effect" on the financial outlook. The scam was uncovered about four weeks ago. JD Sports makes a note of customers' names and addresses when issuing a refund as standard practice, and an investigation was launched after the company realised the same people were regularly bringing back items. Mr Edwards said that in one week, the company believed it had been defrauded of £2,000 by dishonest customers. JD Sports will now insist on a receipt, or other proof of purchase such as a credit card receipt or bank statement before issuing a refund, Mr Edwards said. He added: "We are not offering gift vouchers as an exchange." The chain is keen to reassure its customers that they will not lose out. "We are not trying to upset the vast majority of our genuine customers," Mr Edwards said. "We are trying to protect them." JD Sports has more than 300 branches in the UK and sells brands including Adidas, Lacoste, Reebok and Timberland. It also carries r&b singer Missy Elliott's Respect ME street-wear range. Chairman Peter Cowgill said last month there was "greater kudos in having a JD bag in your hand" as the chain outperformed its rivals, including JJB Sports. JD Sports reported strong Christmas trading with underlying sales up 6pc. The chain has recovered since it was forced to issue two profits warnings in 2003, blaming the disruption from buying First Sport from Blacks Leisure the year before. John David Group reported sales of £458m last year. The shares fell 1 to 264p. | m.t.glass |
