28/9/2009 10:28 | So with a potential pick up in the economy with this statement As a result, the Board expects that the Group's profit before tax for the full year to April 2010 will exceed the current market expectation." It looks pretty rosey for JQV | knowing
28/9/2009 10:23 | Jacques Vert Plc AGM Statement Steve Bodger, Chairman of Jacques Vert plc, the womenswear clothing retailer, will make the following statement at the Group's Annual General Meeting to be held later today: "On a like for like basis, sales in the first 22 weeks of the current financial year were 0.8% lower than last year. However, I am pleased to report that, due to careful management of markdown and stronger full price sell through, gross margin achieved was around 2.5% higher compared with the equivalent period last year. As a result, the Board expects that the Group's profit before tax for the full year to April 2010 will exceed the current market expectation." "We have also been encouraged by initial customer reaction to the new Autumn 2009 season collections. While it is still very early in the season, this positive response provides some confidence in the continuing development of our product. Nonetheless, we continue to be mindful of the highly uncertain economic outlook and will continue to manage costs and cash closely". - ENDS - Note to Editors: The Group retails four womenswear brands: Jacques Vert, Windsmoor, Planet and Precis. Sales are made predominantly in the UK, Canada and Eire through circa 1,000 outlets and via the Internet. | knowing
16/9/2009 11:25 | David positive sector news LONDON -(Dow Jones)- U.K. clothing and houseware retailer Next PLC (NXT.LN) Wednesday raised its full-year profit guidance for the second time in two months, underpinned by its tight grip on costs and inventory, as it beat market expectations with a 6.9% rise in first-half pretax profit. Next said it expects to deliver annual pretax profit "close" to last year's GBP429 million, subject to its sales performance in the key fourth quarter, which includes Christmas. The market consensus is just above GBP400 million. Analysts increased their earnings estimates in July after the group raised its full-year profit guidance on better-than-expected product negotiations with suppliers and a sales boost from warm weather in May and June. Next, which competes against Marks & Spencer Group PLC (MKS.LN), Debenhams PLC (DEB.LN) and John Lewis, said the consumer recession has been less extreme than many had predicted, adding in its statement that "it's been a recession, not Armageddon." | ucnut
15/9/2009 14:53 | Davi....little but sentiment from the US is oftern a precursor to the UK market and it has often been seen that a rise in a specific sector can flow over to other markets. | ucnut
15/9/2009 14:05 | Nice jump in the US retail sales figures just released. | ucnut
15/9/2009 11:02 | Yes 37.5k available at 7.42 with 100k sell possible at 6.61. Looks as if the overhang is finally clearing as for months there has always been 100k available on the buy side at well within the spread. | the big fella |
