US viewers are prime target for ITV

ITV is in talks about launching transatlantic spin-offs of some of its biggest shows including I’m a Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here! after a rise in production revenues in the United States.

The company, which has already reworked formats including Love Island and The Chase for American audiences, hopes to ship other successful British programmes. David George, chief executive of ITV America, said that it was in talks over “multiple formats” with network executives in the country.

ITV, a FTSE 100 company valued at £4.9 billion, has 6,000 staff. Britain’s biggest commercial broadcaster has a vast production division to make programmes as well as broadcast them. American revenues at ITV Studios, the production business, jumped by 82 per cent in

Also , and I say this objectively after 25 years in the industry…̷0;. Financial journalists are total muppets who have no idea what they are talking about.

Honestly it’s a bit if a pointless question. They are the biggest asset manager in the world so will be constantly raising & trimming positions. There is no clever view here apart from viewing their behaviour as investing in something that is cheap.
Or not

"ITV’s lucrative Freeview deal under threat"
A consortium has launched an eleventh-hour attempt to seize the contract, and will potentially commit to a HD upgrade for Freeview

ITV’s lucrative access to Britain’s biggest TV network has come under threat after a consortium launched an eleventh-hour attempt to seize the contract.
A group of investors has promised to make “substantial payments” to the Government if ministers auction the Freeview licence held by ITV’s channel operator SDN. The move comes after ministers recommended overhauling laws to allow Ofcom to renew the licence with SDN without an auction to aid ITV’s recovery from the pandemic.

SDN, which ITV snapped up for £134m 16 years ago, has proved an important source of income for the Love Island broadcaster by bringing in profits as high as £70m a year.

Ministers have indicated that they would allow the channel operator to continue paying no licence fees should SDN extend its 12-year term when it comes up for renewal in November next year.

However, the consortium hopes to persuade the Government to change tack by promising to make double digit licence payments and bank roll the upgrade of more channels to high-definition quality.A source close to the consortium said: “Millions of Freeview homes are often getting a better TV picture on their phone than on their main set.

“They can watch Money Heist on Netflix in Ultra-HD, but Love Island on ITV2 only in standard definition.
“If we are awarded the licence, we would commit to an HD upgrade and support those vulnerable homes without HD access.“ At the same time and from day one, we would make substantial payments to Government for access to publicly-owned spectrum.
“This could be a win-win for the Treasury and for UK viewers. It is time to take Freeview to the next level.”

Regarding Blackrock recently purchasing a 5% stake in ITV, I see that they have done the same with Greencore Group. Does anyone know of any other UK companies where Blackrock has recently purchased a 5% holding?

The Telegraph yet again - just two weeks ago they reported a refuted threat to ITV from Discovery Communications concerning possible CH4 sale.
“ITV’s lucrative Freeview deal under threat - A consortium has launched an eleventh-hour attempt to seize the contract, and will potentially commit to a HD upgrade for Freeview” By Ben Woods (as before). 14 August 2021 7:00pm
Sadly this time it will be more difficult to refute the story as they haven’t even named who is behind the supposed threat?
Not really journalism.

It’s closed up over 120p
Next more important hurdle is 130p as that opens the door to 140p+ this time according to my friends that analyse such things.
Clearly a bid would be a preferred outcome but that’s just an educated hope at the moment.
Have a great weekend.
