Just wish there was some very bad news about ITV so the share price could go up!

It was reported yesterday that ITV were receiving up to £750,000 for a 30 second advert in the half time break for England V Denmark game. The program was on from 18.30pm until 23.15pm due to the extra time. I counted the number of adverts in an add break before the football match kicked off, there were 9 adverts 1 for 10 seconds and all the rest were for either 20 or 30 seconds. I thought ITV would buck the trend today and go up considering the millions of pounds ITV will have booked from just last nights game alone.

Sorry but that makes no sense whatsoever. The board have a fiduciary duty to shareholders (of which they are all significant holders themselves), so absolutely would not sell out at a discount.
On July 28th we will get raised guidance , a very positive current trading statement & the dividend reinstatement. Shares will rally at least 5% & every broker will have to raise estimates & price targets. Now the markets may correct before then & we may well be lower , but the 28th will be a good day. Imho

Stan, I tend to agree. Although, I think that ITV can afford to start paying a dividend even at a lower rate than the previous 8p per year.

nigedivi would be nice, but covid has presented a hard to ignore opportunity to defer again and promise a restart next time and a rebasing of iton the plus side, itv look to have gotten through through the last year intact so we can possibly look forward a half dozen years of solid divis, itv should still be above ftse average after rebasing...so all good

I agree, looking at the p/e, ITV are cheap. I live in hope of a dividend announcement to lift the share price. Better still I hope to wake up one morning soon to a bid, now that would be nice.

Unfortunately it makes you wonder. If most shares had had the good news which ITV has, then their share prices would be at least 20% higher, particularly if their p/e ratio was so much lower than the rest of the sector.

I think that even when ITV announce bumper figures shortly and restoration of the dividend, then the share price will hardly move at all, except slightly south. Guess someone is preparing a takeover at about £1.05 a share or lower which will be recommended for acceptance by the Board.

Just a little while longer Gecko, the bid has to have a look of credibility about it and especially so after the last six years of blatant manipulation by GS and its co-ordinated bear raid on the company's stock !!! :)

Are the vultures circling..?

KKR is expanding its operations to target more takeovers in the UK, as the record-breaking pursuit of British companies by private equity groups reignites a debate over the role of the buyout industry in the economy.

One of the world’s largest private equity groups will set up a new team of five dealmakers to focus on buying British companies, the heads of its European buyouts business said in an interview with the Financial Times.

A combination of Brexit and the pandemic have depressed valuations in Britain, prompting private equity groups to snap up companies there at the fastest pace in history. Buyout groups have bought or announced bids for 366 UK companies so far this year, the most for a comparable period since records began in the 1980s, according to figures from Refinitiv.

“There’s more value at a high level in the UK than there is in other markets,” Caprioli said. Companies in the FTSE 100 index are valued at similar multiple of their earnings as they have been for years, he said, whereas valuations have risen in many other countries.
