Yeah I noticed the RSI fall - but that is also a good thing as its no longer over bought. I think its gone down too low now to bother selling. I'll just wait for the rebound towards results.
Its only a few more days, I can take the hit.
I feel pretty confident they will be OK

final point - a close below 70.5 strongly points to a chart reversal with support at DMA - 66p.

no new disclosed short positions hence the selling is mainly large holders...

PH: yes - really. 1/2 of ITV is not dependent on advertising - its the demand for CONTENT.... So even if you assume ITV should only be worth HALF an average ftse100 company using pe, then it should be on pe of about 12.
JULY 2020 figures:

current assets: 45,000Total liabilities: 33,160NAV 12,000Intangibles 30,000 42,000 Market Cap 28,550 <=== 14,000 less then "assets"PROFIT: LOADS!

Just a reminder: on Oct 24th 2020 the average ftse100 stock pe ratio was 24 (of those that had a positive pe ratio to take average).
These are the TEN lowest (positive) pe ratios in ftse100 (note I've got ITV in there as a sort of comparison):

pe_ratio ticker stock_name1.45 IAG INTL CONSOL AIR2.89 CCL CARNIVAL3.87 MNG M&G PLC4.41 AV. AVIVA4.46 NWG ROYAL BANK SCOT5.61 TW. TAYLOR WIMPEY5.73 BT.A BT GROUP <===============5.89 EZJ EASYJET6.13 ITV ITV <==============6.18 LGEN LEGAL&GEN.

I cant for the life of me see why ITV is in that group or, indeed, BT. Time will tell. I've invested big in ITV and BT. To get to pe 24 ITV and BT would need to rise 400%. Will not happen over night. But perhaps over year or two....

I'm afraid I'm going to join you, it's a bit tiresome. Something I rarely do.

Considering FTSE tanking I think ITV and BT doing remarkably well.

pe of ITV about 6 (average FTSE 100 stock has pe of 22), ITV also has a massive amount of hidden NAV (TV programs are counted as intangibles).

Barnier reported by CNBC to have indicated we are closer to a Brexit deal. That would be one less weight around the neck of UK domestic stocks.

Alex: The way you're talking we need an L.P. Hartley ("the go between"). :-)

ITV is built on novels turned into TV series... You have to understand and appreciate fiction if you want to understand ITV.

If you want to understand if ITV has a hit before it is a hit, you have to know fiction ....
You have to be able to quantify the dream before its turned into a reality

I'd prefer a more reasoned analysis, whether positive or negative. I don't find those type of posts helpful, interesting ... or amusing. I'll let you get back to your Jilly Cooper.

BT appears to be going up towards last week or so before results (touchwood).
If same even happens with ITV we should start to see a rise by end of next week.

alex1621: You obviously are a bad reader. I tend to read a book a week.

If you take the words with wry smile you know "should" is the key word.

we all know that doubling is impossible (no news worthy of such an event or international buyer snapping up stock)... So rather than thinking the writer is "bonkers" the average reader is looking at the words as a wry truth:

"Aye, its worth a lot but not to day".

Try and read a bit more - it helps

"If the market reads the news right it should double today"I'm lost for words, so I used yours. I'm bullish ITV medium to long term, when we start to move out of the Brexit/virus period, but ITV will never double in a day, not even with a bid. I call out the overly gloomy, I'd be a hypocrite not to do likewise with blue sky dreamers.

Netflix Down:
World shortage of good TV PRODUCTION...

ITV has suddenly become a lot more valuable - look at the trouble Netflix is in - it needs more TV prduction...

BRITBOX has access to perhaps the worlds best production: ITV and BBC

If market reads the news right ITV should double today - but I doubt it can add 1+1 = ITV
