If there is a bidder in the background, they are going to need those millions of ordinary shares that have been hoovered up since March.

Practical Law says regarding mandatory bids. A bid required to be made under Rule 9 of the City Code on Takeovers and Mergers, broadly where: the bidder and any persons acting in concert acquire shares carrying 30% or more of the voting rights of a target; or if a bidder, together with any concert parties, holding not less than 30% but not more than 50% of the voting rights increases its holding. Rule 9 requires a mandatory offer to be made in cash (or be accompanied by a cash alternative) and at the highest price paid by the bidder or any concert party for any interest in shares of the relevant class during the 12 months prior to the announcement of the offer.

If the bidder is Liberty Global, it is about time they moved. However, I would much rather see ITV recover from the forced position it is now in. IMO shareholders should be looking at ITV for long term growth and decent dividends.

It is a good company, a household name being totally ignored by those who seem blind to the fundamentals.

Yes. The ITV scandal puts listening to Milly Dowler's phone messages in the shade, as it does accusing the innocent Colin Stagg of being a murderer.

I think he's complained because I've got him right. In my experience people who never had much growing up think they must show off about their house, car, kids, etc when they get a little bit of money later in life. I have a relative like that, unfortunately. Like the Harry Enfield character "considerably richer than you".

The Dame should dip into her own pocket and buy some shares to show some confidence especially after painting a positive future for ITV in the recent webcast.

Considering her salary of £3.5m+ (Ok less 20% but took the pee with the LTIP) - really no excuse.

Re The Times who like to bash ITV as News Corp has always.

So, the accusation is that some postal votes were never entered into a competition, well whatever happened someone lost the price of a stamp and another viewer won the prize.

A bit trivial and hardly the 'News of the World' telephone hacking scandal.

taiwandan..why would the directors buy shares when they have all taken a pay cut. Would indicate they have plenty of dosh to splosh while they are all in the share option scheme.

Also, why was Alex's excellent post deleted? A little too close to home, eh?

Cautious7 lost a big percentage of his couple of grand investment cash when he bought SAGA at around 52p.

Why does he bash ITV, I expect there is some truth in the rumour that he once worked there and was fired for failing to keep the toilets clean.

The other thread is more informative and could be better if every serious investor migrated and left this 2014 thread to C7 and his alter ego's.

"Why are the directors nt buying???"

... Why aren't you shorting it? Are you broke or something? You spend a lot of time bashing the company for someone that has no position.

Ronaldo CR7 - Muppet, fact!!!

Cautious7: Perhaps they put their ready cash into EASYJET (up 22% over 5 days). ITV is hardly started yet... Give it a chance....

Hi

Do we have "lift off" lol.

Ask yourself this and I have said it for a long while - why are the directors not buying
with their own money big style if "prices are so low"?????

No divi in sight and no hope imho

DYOR

C7 - Never falls in love with any SP, fact!!!

Buffett seldom makes market predictions, other than he expects the US market in 20 years to be higher than today. So don't spout nonsense.

Why? The trend here is awful despite the recent blip. Buffett is saying a correction imminent. We will not be immune. Dyor
