And the UK government is affering Tata in Port Talbot a miserly £300 million to do the same. Lose steel from the UK and the steel price will go through the roof for UK manufacturing.

The steel producer last February (2022) said it would invest €1.7bn ($1.89bn) to transition the Dunkirk plant to hydrogen.

Firstly perhaps you should check the major shareholder list of ITM also see where ITM orders are coming from.

Secondly Converting water to Hydrogen instead of shutting down wind turbines and paying for them is certainly not cheaper than storing it in batteries that can only take a limited amount of energy. Energy stored in batteries also losses a significant of its energy during winter periods.

Batteries for HGV's, Planes and boats will never in a million years work, they can't store sufficient energy and weight prohibits them from being used unless of course they all carry feathers, not much call for those mind.

Finally

The only elephant in the room is you pmsl.

" Over the past decade, an average of 5% of the country’s electricity has been imported, helping to reduce the amount it needed to generate itself. However, net imports swung to net exports in 2022 for the first time in 44 years."

"Looking at the individual interconnectors, it was the link to France that caused this significant change. In 2021, there were 14 terawatt-hours (TWh) of net imports from France whereas in 2022, there were 10 TWh to France. This is an enormous swing of 24 TWh from a single point of connection, and represents the largest annual change in a single electricity source since the shift from coal to gas in 2015/16. To put 24 TWh in context, this is broadly similar to the amount of electricity Scotland uses each year, or the annual output from Britain’s onshore wind generation."

I see no elephant in the room!

I guess the UK government are aware that converting water to H2 is much less efficiient than charging batteries where the conversion losses are a lot lower.

Linde are a major competitor to ITM and I guess they will always put their own H2 manufacturing processes ahead of ITM's until the cost of electrolysis reduces to a point when it is economically sensible to do otherwise. They also have their own man in charge at ITM so it is slam dunk.

The other important point is that the UK is short of electricity and there is a long waiting list over many years to even connect new green projects to the national grid.

I do not understand why people here ignore the elephantS in the house.

Ohhh South Africa yes please. Defiantly worth a read.

Energy users believe natural gas not green enough

“If we talk to these big mining companies, they say they’re not interested in natural gas. It’s clean, but it’s not green enough. The other thing is that wind and solar, as an alternative energy source, when they start using it, they find that Eskom is actually more reliable. So, they need something to stabilise their energy. Green hydrogen is the solution,” he said.

Van der Linde was speaking at the 2023 Hydrogen Economy Discussion on July 20, where he mentioned that there was also a significant amount of interest in using green ammonia for agricultural purposes. Green ammonia can be made from green hydrogen.

Worth a listen. Even if he is talking about USA same applies to rest of world.

Particularly energy security. Seems they have big oil also trying to influence government there as well.

This is why I think gimme has let Vlad brainwash him to a detrimental affect at exactly the wrong moment the cycle of shorting and broker downgrades with JPM a key player, is now I think bottomed out and turning it, higher upgrades and reduced shorting cycle to profit on way back up .... Albeit with a new professional direction from.itm to support it . Seems this way to my eyes at least. Anyone else?

Wales & West Utilities project to explore pathway to hydrogen.

Alongside the other UK gas networks, we are committed to converting our existing safe and reliable gas network to transport green gases like hydrogen and biomethane which will help the UK get to net zero in a sustainable and affordable way, while minimising disruption to energy consumers.

JPM tipping ITM may have a bit of an impact today hold on to your hats lol.

JPM tipped Plug Power (NASDAQ:PLUG), ITM Power PLC (AIM:ITM) and Bloom Energy Corporation (NYSE:BE) as key players in the hydrogen market.

Despite experiencing setbacks in the past year or so, UK-based ITM Power is seen as "offering greater turnaround potential ... given recent operational progress", prompting the analysts to advise keeping a close watch for the July 27 results.
