16/8/2017 09:56 | What an incredibly naïve blog! Yes there is a direct proportionality between MW in and amount of product produced, but you cannot employ that direct proportionality to operating profit. For a start there are the increased transport costs of getting the ore to the smelter. To get half as much product you need half as much ore. There are fixed overheads, which are not proportional to the cost of mining each tonne. Equally there are fixed overheads at the smelter so a smelter of half the power costs more to operate and maintain than half of what it costs to operate and maintain a smelter of twice the capacity. All we can do is hope that management have done their sums properly and the operation will still be profitable and cash generative when all costs, including PLC costs are taken into account. As for communication strategy. Rather than counting the number of RNSs the author of the blog ought to try reading them. There have been very few progress RNSs because there has been very little noteworthy progress and each RNS has promised things which have not happened in the timescales suggested, so the next RNS is really a report of delays to what was previously published. It is wrong to assume that something is happening, but they can't be bothered to report it. We are half way through Aug - the month when the smelter subsidiary was supposed to be cash flow positive. There has been no announcement that it has even started producing anything so the most valid assumption is it has not even started. No doubt we will get an RNS at some stage telling us that cash generation is now going to happen much later. Rant over back to patiently waiting for Godot. | rec0very stock | |
