Be under no illusion. The rise in the share price is entirely down to the presentation to analysts. It's not the price that has risen but the penny that has dropped

More money traded on IQE today than LLOY. There will be a lot of people looking at IQE hard for the first time today.

Perhaps a large buy order in the background from shorter hoping to close.

Chartwise it looks like blue sky. 150 may prove a bit of resistance but likely will be blown away if not before iP8 launch then shortly after. Expect a slew of articles about the end of silicon. Constant news could keep the share price motoring for some time

They don't wait. They are asleep due to the time difference! In addition some won't have even heard of iqe until they look at results or hear reports etc.

Well, whatever, we're seeing a very considerable turnaround from this morning's low. Apparently considerably more selling than buying, which suggests little in the way of short closing yet. MMS bidding for stock ready for when they do, perhaps?

Do you really think pi's in the States wait till the instant the US bell rings before they buy/sell UK stocks?

Think about it, some chap gets up at 7am, gets ready to go to work, perhaps checks his stocks at 8am US time.

"Hmmm... I see IQE is doing ok over in the UK, I could place my trade now, but no, I must wait until the US market opens before I can do anything"

On a technical trade yes, you'd place an order to buy at a price you think the share price is breaking out from, in the same way you'd place a stop for if it drops to a point you want out regardless of results.

aiming - the only reason I can think of is that some US buyers might need to sell summat they own over there when their market opens, to free up the cash needed to buy here? Sounds unlikely.

Exactly aiming. No significance in 2.30pm. Buyers outside of the UK will operate as and when the price meets their requirements.

Why would Americans, who wish to buy into IQE, have to wait until their market opens at 2.30? Can they not buy on the London market while that is open? Or are we supposing that they won't be awake and out of bed before 2.30 GMT?

IRMA has been upgraded to a category 5 tropical storm.....IQE seems to be heading the same way...Outstanding, people obviously liked the presentation.

So slide 7: 'Financial dashboard', the EPS estimate of 3.2 FY is the old one then? Before the 'materially exceeding market expectation'?
If not it would be disappointing...

If they want to get some US investors on board they're going to have to improve the quality of the stock photos on their presentations...
