nickdr99, why would Intel want to buy IQE? If you can tell me a solution to one of their current problems that IQE solves, that would be a good start.

nickdr, I fear IQE may be at risk of takeover bid at some point. It would of course yield a material premium, perhaps a huge one, but would dilute the potential earnings growth to shareholders.

Personally I hope it doesn't happen, but that's capitalism. We will just have to remain diligent and sniff out other opportunities.

Can someone with more understanding of this market than I, give the argument why intel or similar would or would not want to acquire IQE. Wouldn't it be good market timing before the real growth starts. $2 or 3bn small change for intel. Probably spent $35-40bn in the last 3 yrs. Intel I believe considered a takeover of IQE in 2011....this time with its markets becoming ready for mass adoption why not?

yump - the main financials to be discussed will be once there are upgraded broker forecasts, for 2018 in particular. There is an analyst meeting at 9.30 today, so not sure when we'll start seeing revised forecasts.

Wouldn't surprise me if this finishes in the blue today.

Next event is the Apple conference on the 12th Sept.

I don't know why people bother posting that they called the earnings, they were stated clearly in July, today's updates focus was the growing and looking forward over the next 2 years +.

Interesting morning. It turns out my gut feeling yesterday on the accounts was more or less correct for the last half (have to admit I wasn't expecting negative growth). But it's all about the growth now -

Happy to see the share price rebound upwards this morning. Just annoyed I didn't have the balls to set the limit buy around 122p!

It`s good to see common sense reasserting itself. Anyone who has marvelled at the way electronics, communication and media have changed the globe in the last 20 years will know that future changes in the way we live, learn and communicate are unavoidable ( Trump and Pyongyang permitting) at an increasing pace. IQE will help facilitate that change so while traders may gloat over a few "smart" deals their activities will gradually be swamped by the reality of social change on a grand scale.

Well discussion of the actual financials may happen here, but I doubt it, the share price has generated the excitement, not the financials.

Seems to me everyone just wants to imagine the future. Usually some folk discuss the accounts. Its an unusual thread, as its not full of hype and loss-making.

'Normally' people discuss ratings and such like.

But clearly, talking about those is only for shorters and derampers here.
