The decision to reduce holdings in some of the many bio-tecs was announced in the last results.

"Rationalisation of the portfolio has been ongoing since the combination of the Life Sciences portfolios of both IP Group and Touchstone in late 2017. This rationalisation process will continue over the next year or so and will result in a smaller, more focused but diverse portfolio of 10-20 companies, each one with ‘NASDAQ potential’ and with a target ownership of at least 25%."

It would be good to have full transparency on that decision to sell AVCT. Less easy now to ask the BOD directly

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 2020 Annual General Meeting will be held at 11.00am on 18 June 2020 at the Company's offices at The Walbrook Building, 25 Walbrook, London, EC4N 8AF.
The evolving COVID-19 situation and the related Government guidelines have clearly impacted the ability of shareholders to attend the Company's AGM. It is the Company's intention to hold the AGM with the minimum quorum of shareholders present to conduct the business of the meeting (being two director-shareholders). Whilst the current guidance remains in place, no other shareholders will be permitted to physically attend the meeting. Any shareholder who attempts to attend the meeting in person will be refused entry.

RNS dated 6th April, at which point AVCT were around 20p a share.

Will be happy to be proven wrong...

Where does it state when and at what price did they sell avct ?

I agree, it was abysmal timing. No question. After all this time of holding, too. But hey.

Of far more material value to the share price is what happens to ON & CWR.

Yes, I realise that. But for the IP Group management to be so hopeless as to sell an investment literally days, hours even, before it trebled makes me think they must have a very poor understanding of the potential of the investments in the portfolio. I mean, really, the AVCT thing is just embarrassing and has cost us maybe £10m ?(sold for £5m and 10 days later that same stake is worth £15m ?).

Surely, as a 15% equity holder, they must have known what the company was working on and that it was on the cusp of something? Next thing they'll be telling us they sold the stake at a loss to cover ongoing management costs...

Perhaps an apology from the management is in order ? "We regret selling our stake in AVCT and immediately thereafter missing out on the almost instant significant value increase which we accept was a poor judgement call..." type thing.

Well, don't depend on them to hang to a share like AVCT, if you really want it in your portfolio...

When this recovers, as it certainly will, the exactl same observation could be made of Woodford. Don't depend on the fund manager if what you want can be obtained independently! AVCT has been available for some time to buy on the open market.

"No, it's okay, I already own some through my IP holding. Oh, hang on...."

Fair point, but I imagine there's a moral in there somewhere...

Someone please tell me that our super expensive management didn't sell Avacta a matter of days before it trebled in value.....??

Seems to be the case. Though of course nothing to stop you buying AVCT, on your account

No, it's okay, I already own some through my IP holding. Oh, hang on....

Selling Avacta literally immediately before they treble ! You couldn't make it up !! Have you seen the amount we pay the IP Group management to exercise shrewd judgement ??? I think we may be due a refund...

In the meantime, Oxford Nanopore appears to have been very busy indeed. I'm increasingly of the mind that as we come out of lockdown and into whatever intermediate state is likely over next two years, this, together with CWR is what the value case here is all about.

The rest, while interesting, no doubt, will be more like buying 10,000 lottery tickets in the hope that one wins the Jackpot.

The sale of AVCT adds another £5.3m cash to the pot taking us up to a minimum £60.7m so far for 2020

Very good to see management realising cash in this way, as laid out in the recent results commentary.

Nanopore's on the brink of being floated. If they have written the value down, it's just precautionary since there is no real price. We'll see the value soon when it's floated as planned. I hope IP have taken the stake off invesco at the new lower valuation, which would explain the new lower valuation. The illequidity of the unquoted companies means any valuation at all is very notional and doesn't really mean much in pragmatic terms.

I imagine last week’s drop was due to the Invesco news re sale of all unquoteds and 60% chop in valuations. They own a chunk of Nanopore and a few other positions...

Bought a few.

Weichi [Ceres] complete on their anti-dilution rights imminently.

This should lead to another healthy cash injection to add to £55m+ so far for 2020.

The current chart pattern could be viewed as a bear flag or pennant.

I reluctantly took a 5p a share loss earlier this week, as I went 100% cash.
Quite glad now!

It will be fascinating to see who is buying and selling the volume, and at what price this plunge stops.

The large H&S on the chart has a tp approx 10.75
Historical support will probably prevent this being reached.
Hs 38.70, 31.50, 27.80
