I am not sure that anybody has noticed or not, but it seems that copper prices is hitting all-time high and it may break out the magic $4/lb. Given the talk of the global slowdown it is somehow surprising, especially if you also monitor the copper stock. The stock is not as low as what it was in 2005 but it is close to its lowest for the last 12 months:

Sorry I've just realised they quoted the gross cost rather than the share price as they do on the LSE. lol

£25,000 to gain a further 0.8% of an asset with an npv of £75m-again a very astute increase it would seem

NG-i dont necessarily agree that uep is a write off as the resource is still there-as you know the problem they have had is poor core recoveries due the to friable sandstone which bears the mineralisation-this does not mean that they have found poor grades etc,far from it,but i agree it is looking a lot more dodgy now in terms of funding to move it fowards and the recent director resignation-if it can weather the current credit crisis then it should be a goer once more as the resource does imv still have good potential

UEP is probably a write off. With today's TMC share price, it seems that IVK is only at approximately 20% discount to its asset value. I have no idea how much we could sell BNZ for but I am assuming we get nothing for it in this market.

I bet IVK would be picking up undrvalued stock in this market. I wouldn't get surprised if we buy more of TMC. In fact, I am hoping that CK is doing this on behalf of IVK's shareholders! imo copper, Ni and gold would carry on going upward trend in the next 12 months. The Middle Eastern dollars would be pouring into gold and Chinese foreign reserves would be converted to base metals such as copper and Ni etc! We are talking about in excess of $1 trillion dollar which is looking for a safe heaven!!

strow, I forgot to mention about the potential fund raising for TQN. By the end of July, TQN will have to pay back £3m to IVK. I would not get surprised if TQN raised more than £10m by the end of July. Whether TQN would pay back IVK £3m or IVK gets further shares in TNQ at 25p would remain to be a mistry at the moment.

Thanks ng-actually was expecting environmental approvals already-think they previously stated by end of feb-such is life -nothing ever seems to happen when its meant to in mining-look fowards to drilling results though-could find this resource extended even further :-)

I don't know if anybody cared to notice that TQN released their 2007 results on 12th of March.

Two significant news which are not widely known are
1) Environmental approvals is expected early 2008
2) Drilling programme is commencing during March 2008 in Las Nipas where significant copper-molybdenum-gold anomaly has been identified

As I mentioned, we paid IVK shares at $4.40 for every TQN shares. So after IVK shares break 200p, then we would probably see TQN moves north too if the current rise is purely because of the copper project. But again, the share price might be going up because of the news of BNZ sale. Which of course it is not a sensitive news for either TQN or TMC. Hence, we have seen IVK rising 40% over a week.

Perhaps the current rise is because of the combination of both BNZ and all-time high price for copper.

Of course if it was a reaction to copper prices then the same would apply to TQN.

SteMiS, I'd expect a sudden rise in TQN share price before any significant anouncement made on Puquios. I take the recent rise in the share price a simple reaction to the fact that copper prices hit an all-time high recently and the market knew before us that CK had bought a few more shares after results were announced. TQN share prices have barley changed since last November while IVK was almost halved at 102p. Remember that we valued IVK's shares at $4.40 when we paid for TQN.

nghomi,

It was just a general observation and a response to a view expressed that there might be something to be announced on Puquios.

Having said that I agree with kimboy2 that CK is not exactly a devotee to the letter of the stock exchange rules!

I seem to remember CK bought before when TMC news as released shortly afterwards. Indeed I remember that ECC was not released for some time after it was received during which time he was purchasing IVK shares.

I would not rely on normal rules as a guide.

SteMis, What sort of news are you referring to? Are you expecting an announcement of the sale of BNZ? I sort of agree with you. BNZ would be probably sold for a stake in a larger company so I would not expect any cash sale. However, the commodity prices are as hot as it could be at the moment so I wouldn't get surprised that we get some a few million cash for it either. CK's additional purchases are reassuring that prospects are hot and we are undervalued by a thousand miles!
