11/10/2024 14:56 | just got 1k at 414.5p. That's a 15% discount and with the dividend just announced | brwo349
11/10/2024 14:43 | Added a few back. Still looks bargain c.415p | its the oxman
10/10/2024 13:30 | Given so much negative sentiment and wild speculation already, maybe best to buy day before budget. As always, some shares will be hit far harder than others. Probably those with poor liquidity like IPU, although they are already on a huge discount. | 2wild
10/10/2024 11:06 | hi bitgold, having never taken part in a tender before, I admit to being a bit sceptical when you said you expected more than the 25-30% than I expected. You were obviously right, and I am very glad about that! :-) Waiting for the budget probably does make sense - there might well be an unwelcome rabbit out of the hat... cheers | llef
10/10/2024 09:45 | Good to hear, llef. Yes, it's one of the small benefits for us small investors and can make a big difference to our returns. To me these tenders are little more than raids by arbitraguers to make some money at long-term shareholder expense, so it's important we all participate if possible. I am very happy to get 57% too, don't misunderstand me. I am however surprised the uptake was so high with the tax complexity for non-ISA or SIPP holdings come April next year. I've still got IPU on my list, but going to wait for what effect the budget has. I sense not good. | bitgold
10/10/2024 08:42 | As an investor in IPU with Hl, have to say I am delighted with 57%, (I expected between 25-30%). It's the first time I've taken part in a tender like this, and I didn't realise that all HL holdings would be lumped together for allocation purposes. I'll probably reinvest the proceeds in IPU.. maybe the trick will be repeated next year! :-) | llef
09/10/2024 15:33 | Other tenders this year have yielded 90-100% return, so yes, I consider it low. Maybe more private investors are getting wise to the arbitrageur tricks? | bitgold
09/10/2024 14:16 | low? lol. There was only 10% of the shares up for grabs. You tendered all and ended up with 57%. That's high. Not low. | brwo349
09/10/2024 12:55 | HL tendered 57%. Not bad, but I am actually quite surprised it was that low. people may need to be careful there's not a nasty shock with taxes on dividends and a big unused capital loss come april next year if it's not held in an ISA or SIPP. Unless I misunderstood things. I'd be interested to hear how much got tendered with other brokers. | bitgold
09/10/2024 12:01 | Longterm investor here, got my special dividend, reinvested today, for original qty of shares, now up just over £1k in cash sweet. | joy division still
09/10/2024 10:31 | I still have about 14% in ipu and 12% in CHIB. I used to own MUT, i switched into CHiB when discount to nav was around 7% wider. I also like the renewable energy ITs ITs, yielding 7 to 10% on discounts 25% to 35%. Not so long ago they mainly traded on premiums to NAV. | 2wild
08/10/2024 22:48 | I added some MUT today. Holding also CHIB, EAT and IPU. I like equity trusts but I'll check out your list. | brwo349
08/10/2024 18:30 | brwo349. Have you ìnvested any IPU proceeds yet? I got more AEET BBH JSGI PCA RMMII and VSL. All in the process or planning tenders or otherwise returning capital. I will start investing my ISA cash tomorrow. | 2wild

08/10/2024 13:06 | Same percentage in my ISA, never had so much uninvested cash. Fantastic | 2wild
08/10/2024 12:50 | Received 54.4545% in my ii SIP | 2wild
08/10/2024 12:37 | Fantastic. I tendered all and got 54.4% accepted with III | brwo349
07/10/2024 18:40 | Agree. Unnecessarily complex and a ridiculously long extended timetable. | 2wild
07/10/2024 15:17 | I reckon you'll easily get your 50% 2wild, the fact it was a complicated dividend tender with different tax implications depending on the individual investor will have put a lot of people off. I'd love to hear their reasoning for a dividend tender instead of share tender. | bitgold
07/10/2024 15:02 | 30%!! Bloody hell. Had to read that twice. | essentialinvestor
07/10/2024 14:57 | Yes pay day tomorrow. Will probably get credited to my II accounts some time between tomorrow afternoon and Wednesday close of play. Certainly would be buying down these levels if I didn't already have around 30% of my portfolio invested in ipu. Hopefully I'll get around 50% taken up in cash tender. | 2wild
07/10/2024 13:06 | Great if it is tomorrow, I thought it was Wednesday. 412p sounds like good value and it's not too far away now from the 390p sep 2020 covid price, so sounds like a really good deal if the discount is there. If so, I will be be back in. | bitgold
07/10/2024 11:33 | Added at 412.75p Tomorrow is the day we nominee account holders should find out how may we got away although we may have to wait if they are tardy with the paperwork. | brwo349
04/10/2024 15:23 | We shall see. close to 100% was available with JEDT and RSE recently. It really seems private investors don't understand that these tenders are basically the city mob raiding the small shareholders and therefore don't participate. This one is even worse, as dividend tender gets different tax treatment if you hold it outside an ISA or sIPP. | bitgold
04/10/2024 11:29 | I hope to get 20% at least filled in the tender and I think those expecting close to 100% are dreaming a bit | brwo349 |
