20/12/2010 14:44 | Donkey My estimate for the Invensys share price at the end of 2010 is that it will be considerably below its share price in December 2011 assuming it hasn't been taken over. Happy xmas and mery new year to you, Hobby, and all the other patient and long suffering Invensys share holders. May our quest be not in vain. Long may the tea lady keep Ulf in line. 23/11/2010 22:31 | Invensys in decline while Irish woes weigh on FTSE 100 Having been in the limelight of late due to speculation it could be snapped up by a Chinese suitor, Invensys was under pressure on Monday as analysts at Bank of America-Merrill Lynch downgraded their rating on the engineering group. Although the broker stressed that the outlook remained positive for Invensys, which makes controls for washing machines and rail signalling systems, Merrill cut its stance to "neutral" from "buy", citing a recent strong run for the shares and - M&A speculation aside - limited upside to the stock's valuation. Invensys last week saw a leap in its share price after comments from its chief executive that Invensys' partner, China Southern Rail, could in principle buy Invensys if the price was right. Merrill analysts said on Monday that given the speculation, the market was increasingly looking at Invesys as a potential break-up candidate. In their view, they added, the main hurdle to any deal was the pension deficit with gross liabilities of £5.72bn in the first half of 2011. Invensys management have indicated that they are working to address this issue, analysts said. Once the pension situation is resolved, the broker added there was speculation that Invensys will attract attention from strategic buyers given the nature of its assets. Analysts put a possible break-up valuation of 450p on Invensys, which shed 6 to 329p on Monday | hobby2
23/11/2010 16:35 | Buy in tomorrow Electronica? | frankito
19/11/2010 16:37 | Well it's tried it's best to shed all the gains made at the start of the week, but has held on to a fair chunk. Must admit I had sympathy with Hobbys view that it would all dissapear as fast is it appeared but no! Maybe just maybe .. As ever £4.40 ttfn | donkeystone

16/11/2010 21:39 | donkey (pensioners) - But would China take them? On my ISYS pension I would be quite well off in China so that would be no hardship (but not in HK which is comparatively expensive). Btw, the header of this thread was written before I retired and doesn't seem to have been updated since! | boadicea
16/11/2010 19:22 | thats easy, move all the pensioners to China !! As ever £4.40 ttfn | donkeystone
16/11/2010 18:40 | ........Rudd must be kicking Ulf all round the boardroom floor today.....bit of a own goal been scored but not surprising given the way our Ulf can ramble on!!!........however his thoughts were probably spot on given CSR could get a slice of the global process & automation business outside China with ownership of intellectual rights that others would be willing to pay handsomely for.....be interesting to know what remains to be the biggest deal breaker other then the price......pension liability most probably | hobby2
