09/4/2021 16:59 | So not surprised the share price is down but pleasantly surprised it hasn't tanked. Somebody really needs to bring this government to its knees. It's killing the UK economy with ott measures. A vote of no confidence in Boris would be a start. | chiefbrody
09/4/2021 16:57 | For a full on holiday maybe it won't deter too many (though I still think it will be substantially negative). For a weekend away though, it's a catastrophe. Simple as. So negative for IAG and significantly negative for the likes of EZJ/RYANAIR. Ryanair already warned a few days back. The cheapies will make losses again this year. | chiefbrody
09/4/2021 13:47 | FTSE AND DOW ARE ON DRUGS. | the_man_with_the_pink_gun
09/4/2021 11:40 | Agreed - too much negativity. People will always find a reason to complain. The bright side is that at least travel is on the cards again, albeit with testing. That's the worst case scenario. To put testing costs into context, in 2018 a UK family of four spent an average of 4,792 quid on a two-week holiday. On top of that, they spent another average of 227 quid pp per week. So that's 1,652 quid pp for a two week holiday. Given the holiday discounts this summer, I think a 100 quid test will not stop too many people travelling; and spread over the number of days of any holiday, it's not too much in the scale of things...maybe just a night out they didn't have during months of lockdown. | 1krl
09/4/2021 11:28 | It will get better, eventually. As m1 said, Boris is constantly way behind the curve.Kick the can down the road. Time after time.Boris is an idiot. Should have stood down after his brush with Covid. Clearly he's totally lost the plot. | chiefbrody
09/4/2021 11:23 | Business in general (and the CBI etc) have been appalling in standing up to the government. Just moaning isn't good enough. It's really time they stood up to Boris and co.Hell blackmail the government if the have to. Play the government at their own game. | chiefbrody
09/4/2021 10:24 | As usual BoJo is being slow to deal with matters . Far from pro active more like reactive. The costs of the test will reduce as will the requirements but considering how long GOV has had to prepare for this , their solutions are appallingly bad. The only takeaway I have is that I believe it will improve as the industry won't allow these draconian measures to persist. | m1k3y1
09/4/2021 10:20 | Why the negativity?1st time someone from Govnt has even suggested flying this summer on holiday is possible. The industry will adjust - if testing costs are high they will get subsidised by the airlines or airports or govnt may help.1st time today I am thinking I may get away at end of July! | watfordhornet
09/4/2021 10:19 | Paid text when you leave too.£200 odd in costs added to a weekend away in Europe (example).Sheer madness.Jet 2 have already cancelled all flights to practically July.Expect the rest to follow suit too. This summer is toast unless the airlines and the people just tell the government to f.o and carry on regardless. | chiefbrody
09/4/2021 10:04 | Do you mean the paid test on return...? Is there something else...? | 1krl
09/4/2021 09:58 | See the government's info out today.Basically, they don't want peeps to go abroad. They're still putting so many hurdles in the way.Be easier to leave North Korea at the moment... | chiefbrody
09/4/2021 09:31 | chiefbrody:what do you mean...? | 1krl
09/4/2021 07:44 | I think, unless things change, this summer is now a write off for most.Unbelievable response from the government this morning. If you're rich, fine. If not. Stay and be a prisoner in the UK. | chiefbrody
08/4/2021 14:16 | justice Thanks - with that backdrop, hard to deny international travel this summer. The EU is also talking about picking up pace of vaccinations and in recent days some countries planning to lift restrictions in coming weeks. | 1krl

06/4/2021 09:43 | Nothing new here , Air France has been a failing airline for years. It has constantly received state support. | m1k3y1
06/4/2021 09:43 | Amazing share price resilience in the face of a government determined to crush our travel industry. | chiefbrody
06/4/2021 09:21 | The French Government take a 30% stake in Air France/KLM with the Dutch Governments deal still to be done which will most probably be them also staking a stake in the airline. | loganair
