So share price drop has a meaning. From my experience, I've seen share price usually drop before take-over bid.

Another fall in these today, but soon to be the object of a takeover?

I just watched working lunch and they discussed Intercontinental. "A potential takeover target then?" said the interviewer. "Definitely" came the response.

Remember where you heard it first. No, not on ADVFN, on Working Lunch!

There has been an online petition set up to challenge the unfair withholding of VAT repayments by HMRC. Please sign it and forward to as many people as possible.

Barclay Bros take a stake - is it a blocker or pre- curser.

Market likes it - whichever.

Those bid rumours are back - as forecast.

Week end press may give us a steer.

Eventually they will have no hotels, just management contracts. What will happen to the share price if the top managers leave to start up their own managing company and undercut on price.

Got out this morning, I did say short term.
Now watch the bid arrive. Still not bad for less than 24 hours.

Took a large position after the pullback. In for the ride short term.
If wrong then will just hold on.

Not too hard I suggest. There are many potential suitors - and they won't all disappear into thin air.

Whether or not a bid comes in short time or not, recent M& A in the sector will ensure there'll continue to be fun and games.

apparently the story is that IHG fell in sympathy
on the news that an American Hotel group reported
that second half of the year was likely to see
a reduction in target profits -

Hotel giant InterContinental was sharply lower, down 41.5p - or 4.6 per cent - to 858.5p. It fell in sympathy with US peer Starwood after a strong second quarter was overshadowed by a poor outlook that warned of a soft second half.
(source digital look)

if u ask me, this seems a strange reason for a 4.5% drop,
particularly as it looks like IHG are doing a big share buyback...

worth watching early next week for recovery.

any old boys who have been following IHG for a while care to comment?
cheers in advance

strange though, still no RNS and the basic fundamentals
of the company look fine - even broker notes are positive....

so something is going on.

If this falls through 850 think I might get in
