NEWS RELEASE

Intelligent Energy partners with UK based Taylor Construction Plant Ltd

-- Fuel cells to be integrated into products for the construction industry
-- Plans to collaborate further to manufacture high volumes of product
-- Fuel cells offer clean, cost-efficient and near silent alternative to diesel

Loughborough, UK - Tuesday 19 September 2017

Intelligent Energy has today announced it has partnered with UK based construction plant hire and sales company, Taylor Construction Plant Ltd (TCP) to supply its air- cooled fuel cell modules for integration, testing and evaluation into power products for the construction industry.

The two companies will work together on these initial stages of integration and evaluation with a view to collaborating further to produce higher volumes of product. The fuel cell powered products will initially be targeted at the UK construction industry, with the intention to expand into other TCP markets. Applications include off grid site power, power tools and equipment, welfare cabins and general construction loads.

With 30 years of experience in the fuel cell business, Intelligent Energy is well placed to commercialise its technology and partnerships like this one are a positive move towards the increased manufacture and adoption of fuel cell stacks.

TCP hires and sells lighting and power products to the construction, rail and events industries - sectors which have recently come under fire for their high level of carbon emissions* and noise pollution. The company has already developed a hydrogen fuel cell mobile lighting tower and a CCTV unit which has been embraced by these sectors. The use of near silent, zero emission fuel cells to power additional products could play a big role in helping industries make the move towards to clean energy.

Martin Bloom, Group CEO at Intelligent Energy: "It is great to see the construction industry adopting hydrogen technologies and transitioning away from traditional diesel products. Hydrogen fuel cells are well placed for the industry and its associated products and this partnership is yet another example of how we are commercialising our market-ready technology.

"The benefits of using our technology are clear; clean, near silent operation and cost efficiency."

Companies like TCP are leading the way by offering alternatively powered products can see the value in using fuel cells, which require low or zero maintenance and offer a viable total cost of ownership alternative to diesel.

Andrew Barker, Managing Director of TCP, which is a member of Hydrogen London, comments: "Our green solution systems are fast expanding beyond our established lighting market, to off grid power solutions, where liquid fuels and emission levels are closely monitored for section 61 compliance. We welcome end user input to overcome specific challenges faced on construction sites with increased environmental impact."

As well as integrating fuel cells into the products, the two companies will work together to develop suitable fuel cell solutions based on direct customer feedback.
