QUITE A LARGE TRADE OF ALMOST 300,000 SHARES bought.

The MACD chart has crossed the signal line into positive territory. Hopefully that trend will continue after profit takers have cleared.

NEWS ABOUT UK H2 TRAIN TRIALS:

Team shows fuel cells can be used to power UK trains

author Added by FuelCellsWorks, March 24, 2017 By: Rachael Barker

Fuel Cell Systems, working with the University of Birmingham and Hitachi Rail Europe, has completed a six-month study for the UK rail industry, which shows that hydrogen fuel cell technology can be successfully retro-fitted to extend the life of existing rolling stock. It also established that fuel cells can provide a clean alternative for the next generation of self-powered regional trains in the UK.

Funded by RSSB (Rail Safety and Standards Board) and Network Rail, via their innovation programme, the project demonstrated that the use of fuel cell technology could reduce journey times, eliminate emissions at the point of use and improve passenger comfort through smooth and rapid acceleration and minimal noise and vibration.

The team carried out mathematical modelling on known rail routes to ensure that the project was addressing real life applications. Based on a study of the Norwich to Sheringham route, currently operated by Class 156 multiple units, the fuel cell achieved a 7% reduction in journey time and a 52% reduction in fuel energy consumption when compared to the original version.

Tom Sperrey, Managing Director of Fuel Cell Systems, commented, “Compared to traditional engines, fuel cell vehicles are cleaner, emitting no exhaust fumes, just a small quantity of pure water. They are going to be a major contributor in combatting atmospheric pollution.”

Whilst electrification of the network forms a significant part of future industry plans, hydrogen fuel cell powered trains would complement this, offering an environmentally friendly solution where electrification is uneconomic or impractical. For example, on the Valley Lines in Wales, the estimated cost of conversion to fuel cell operation is around 1/5th of the cost of electrification of the infrastructure. Additionally, use of fuel cell trains would avoid the disruption to services caused by installation of overhead wires, or modifications to bridges and tunnels associated with full electrification.

Over the past decade, hydrogen fuel cell technology has gradually gained in popularity, from the first ever fuel cell hybrid railcar being tested in Japan in 2006, to China’s 2015 debut of a fully operational hydrogen-powered tram in Qingdao. Most recently, the Schleswig-Holstein region of Germany has announced plans to electrify its entire 1,100km railway network using hydrogen fuel cell equipment by 2025.

The technology is widely regarded as tried and tested and many believe it’s time has come as an environmentally friendly solution in the rail and other transport markets.

I have noticed this week that IEH has scrubbed the web of the Essential Energy website. So I suppose they shut down the production facility there a few months ago.

But a new head office has been opened in Bangalore....interesting, cutting costs down post GTL.

the problem might be with all the poor quality high volume posting over at LSE, over 300 yesterday, mainly deramps and so far 75 rubbish posts today.

When looking at today's trading, remember it's Friday and traders prefer to hold cash over the weekend so that will convince some to sell. Also, after a day like yesterday, expect some profit taking. It seems illogical tome that the drone and GenSet deals announced in the last month will be the only deals in this sector ..... IEH certainly seem to be doing nicely over the pond .... and the UK government are also increasing funding for Hydrogen ... at least there's growth in the sector .... more than can be said for other sectors ... I suppose Brexit will make IEH's stuff competitively priced too since most of their stuff goes for export.

This snippet from yesterday is interesting...there will be many more orders.

Julian Hughes, Senior VP Intelligent Energy Inc, commented on the deal:

“I am delighted to announce the first sales of our fuel cell systems for UAV application. PINC is leading the way with the use of hydrogen fuel cell UAVs in the supply chain and we are certain they will be impressed with the benefits our fuel cells will offer over conventional batteries. We look forward to a long relationship with them.”

ha ha ha ... I'm in Canada at the moment and missed all the fun here today because of the time difference .... but, well, I was chatting to a Canadian GenSet manufacturer and supplier at a trade show (Buildex in Edmonton) and ... well, if you need to read here that there is a race on amongst GenSet suppliers to supply a "non-diesel option" .... you're in the wrong business ... so, in theory, other GenSet suppliers in other markets will be trying to make sure they steal a march on their competitors or at least have similar offerings .... I just wonder if IEH are tooled up to handle the increased demand ..... so, in the space of a month, the drone news (which ibug and I have been predicting) has landed ... the GenSet news, no-one predicted that ... I don't think news on orders for scooters is due in the next three months or so but I expect the GenSet and drone news to quicken in pace pretty dramatically .... we're lucky ... Hydrogen is finally happening ... I feel sorry for those who were just too far ahead of the curve and got into IEH too early ... on balance, I probably got it about right ... through no fault of my own .... as far as cash burn is concerned ... IEH's cash burn has been bad for years but they survive ... probably because of "slush funds" which ensure that any company doing "government work" (code for "military stuff") is teflon coated ...

anyway, great news today ... well done to all those who kept the faith ... and, as I said, from my chats here in Canada (and no, I'm not on cruise ships this time!! ) .... expect announcements of deals to supply HFCs for GenSets in markets other than the US ..... I DO expect some profit taking from traders but, logically, how likely is it that IEH will supply 600 HFCs for GenSets and no more? ... or a load of HFCs for drones then no more? ..... exactly so expect this to roll and roll and grow .... I could give you a name of a Canadian GenSet manufacturer to watch re. HFC GenSets here but .... that'd be a bit naff and perhaps illegal .... but a clue is the name of a bloke who used to own a football club and a newspaper in the UK .....

.... oh .... and another area for drones which I heard a tickle about .... decommissioning North Sea oil infrastructure within Health and Safety rules ... ha ha ha ... this is going to be big ... which is why I never sold out ... I knew this would get better

I honestly don't know - maybe the figures (not public knowledge afaik) aren't that good..? I think those sorts of deals will be the ones to generate (no pun intended) steady decent revenue. Maybe it was tainted by the abort on the GTL deal?

Drones capture the public imagination - big square boxes don't.

SMILE is the ongoing Suzuki partnership btw.

I'm hoping to go along to the AGM and hear what has to be said and see if any Qs can be asked and answered about some of the areas that are a little unclear.
