Not sure of reason for today's drop. Liberum have today downgraded ICP to HOLD with 692p price target but can't imagine that is the reason.

XD for 15.8p final ordinary dividend is 16/6 so that is not relevant.

The following is from the Final Results rns re the proposed 63.4p special dividend:
"The special dividend, with an associated share consolidation to maintain, as far as possible, the share price before and after the special dividend, will be subject to shareholder approval at the Annual General Meeting on 21 July 2016. The ex-dividend, record and payment dates for the special dividend and the share consolidation factor will be set out in the AGM circular to shareholders."

AFAICS the AGM circular has not been released yet.

Having been through this special dividend process last year, I am not looking forward to more of the same, as it does not seem to benefit the private investor, what with the increased tax liability, for instance.Can anyone help me with the longer term benefit - again there doesn't seem to have been one over the last year, and with reduced number of shares, the ordinary dividend has not increased in line.

Profit taking today I guess, but underlying funds are growing steadily and so will future profits. Demand seems to be strong for the expertise and funds they offer

Today's sale of assets shows good profit but the market seems disappointed:

So indeed the Special Dividend is described as being treatable as a normal dividend for tax purposes, despite it apparently being a return of capital:

"UK RESIDENT INDIVIDUAL SHAREHOLDERS An individual Shareholder who is resident for tax purposes in the UK (an ‘individual UK resident Shareholder’) and who receives the Special Dividend will generally be entitled to a tax credit equal to one ninth of the amount of the dividend received, which is equivalent to 10% of the aggregate of the dividend received and the tax credit (the ‘gross dividend’), and will be subject to income tax on the gross dividend."

pvb - There are some guidance notes on the taxation of the 2015 special dividend in the AGM notice dated 11/6/15 (see point 10 of Appendix, Resolution 18 - Special Dividend, on pg 11-12 of the notice).

Grr! I'm in a tizz about tax. :-(

Nobody answered my previous question on here. I assume the answer is "Yes". i.e. it is taxable. Anybody know? Please reply if you do.

e.g. My RoC Special dividend comes with a Tax Credit, implying it is taxed as a normal dividend.

after digesting the results the market seems to like them more, even though there was some confusion over the title: "Notice Of Results - Half Year Statement Tuesday 17 November 2015"
- it wasn't notice and the date was wrong.

The market seems to like the results this half; just a bit disappointed the dividend did not seem to reflect the earlier share consolidation.
