Well done Croas,as always. Shame you didn’t get to meet Kate Fissenden ( if she was there). She heads up Stevie k and Charles &Lee. I have spoken to her a few times and she’s a really impressive young lady. Looks like we’ve got a cracking team.

Just a thought.

Thanks Croas. Great write up which is much appreciated. Good to hear a little more about the plans for the US in the near future. Some interesting speculation by yourself as well. With all the new products and launches its easy to forget how much growth there is still to go for with ST.

AGM Notes

General:

All board members present: Executive Chairman, CFO, 3 NED’s and Jesse Porto plus Amy Newman and Michael Hume and probably others from the team that I don’t know.
I had a long chat with Jesse, a short chat with Haris and short chats with Michael and Amy and was warmly greeted by all the board.

ASA Ruling:

This was dealt with via questions asked from the shareholders after the voting but before informal chats. There has been zero impact on sales through DTC or retail and zero impact on relationships with retailers. In fact, its seen as quite flattering that PZ Cussons would be worried about IDP/Skinny Tan as long ago as Dec 2016.
The ruling was just for advertising and not packaging but all aspects of products future and present will be rigorously checked and run through legal – Louise Ferguson and Michael Hume involved in that. I also heard Haris state to another shareholder that Roots packaging design would be altered slightly after feedback – NB this is the form and placement of words rather than the wording itself!
IDP have previously commissioned independent blind ‘studies’; of Skinny Tan with 84% saying ST disguised cellulite, and IIRC 92% saying ST increased skin tone but these tests are not clinical so couldn’t be used to defend ASA case.

Jesse Porto and the US

I had two discussions with Jesse who definitely is the right fit for IDP. He is at the top of his field. He has started already and will be based in the US. He is looking forward to the challenge in a young, dynamic company with product launches of Head MD and Prolong plus relaunch of Skinny Tan.
I noted afterwards that Joseph Panetta (Executive Vice President in US) seems to have left the company (Via Linkedin) but I could be wrong.

Skinny Tan

US relaunch with new branding is still scheduled for Jan 1st.
Product extensions are likely and after a brief discussion with Jesse about opportunities in the Travel sector I went away and did a bit of thinking and research. Imagine a Skinny Tan stand in a duty free shop with the full Skinny Tan range and extra travel product extensions. Millions of people pass through those corridors. Interested?
Then afterwards I reread todays RNS and note that Jesse Porto worked in the Travel Retail Division of Estee Lauder one of its biggest growth sectors over recent years. Draw your own conclusions!
In hindsight I didn’t ask enough questions re Skinny Tan as I was concentrating on Prolong, Leimo and Roots etc. Lets move on:

Roots:

Exclusivity agreement with Superdrug is UK only, 1 year only and ends in July 2018. Roots has gone from concept to product in less than 12 months (usually it takes 2/3 years). Superdrug are gobsmacked at the progress it has made in 3 months and it might be the top brand in its category already but IDP dont want to ‘pigeonhole217; the product. Amy and Michael see it as a product for several haircare categories; hair loss, hair growth, hair strengthening, and general haircare. Many purchases are multiple roots items and its at a premium price point. Alpecin and Plantur are competitors but only in one category. Roots competes in several, and has unique credentials, vegan, cruelty free, sulphate free etc.
Roots will launch in Australia ‘soon’. The DTC channel will be rootsdoubleeffect.com – with customers able to buy in different currencies – NB there are 6 different currencies at the moment on the website, scope for future rollouts? There was a hint that they have retailer(s) in Australia approaching IDP to stock it. My guess is that it will go into Priceline stores and online.
I brought up the potential clash of Trademarks in the US with a rival product called Clubroots. Check out clubroots.com. Haris said the IDP trademark is RootsdoubleeffectTM so there should be no issue, though it will be for lawyers to decide. Anyway, that is a little down the road as Hair MD will be launched first with Roots ‘repackaged217; to complement the product.
Finally the statement from Haris at the end of the questions from the floor ‘we see Roots as the next Skinny Tan’ that says it all imo.

Prolong :

Ready to launch in both US and Australia – US first is likely and Haris himself will be overseeing the roll out in Australia. Marketing strategy is finalised but open to feedback. The company is agile and can respond accordingly.

Leimo/Hair MD

Ready to launch and will be US first. They will leverage Roots at the same time, selling repeat ‘treatments217; to customers. A bit like a printer and print cartridges but the printer costs a lot more!

Body Glow and the new NPDs in skin care and body care:

Brand name was not disclosed as they dont want the competition to get ideas before roll out but as in announcement today they will go in Superdrug 390 stores. They also want to protect Trademarks and other operational details so expect less updates to the market overall – probably once a quarter.

Enbright

Likely to go into retail first as DTC channels not established in Korea/South Africa. Distributors are FMCG1 in South Africa (the people who got Skinny Tan into Clicks.za and Dis-Chem) and PROS in Korea. Enbright name was used as they want to develop a global brand. Skinny Tan Whitening – is an Oxymoron although it was liked by PROS. My guess is Enbright will go into Olive Young and Clicks.za pretty soon and possibly Dis-Chem.

Stevie K and Charles and Lee – sorry I didn’t get the opportunity to ask any questions but got the feeling they will both go into Superdrug.

I also forgot to ask about skin tightening/acne reducing devices/treatments but I think they will be 2019 anyway.

I will try to answer questions though some of you are filtered – so tough on that one. I might choose not to answer some questions over this BB and pm you direct. Hope you can understand. Ian

Remark, you do realise you have contributed to bringing this page/bb down somewhat in recent days and weeks - it would be nice if we had decent bb again and we all play (and post) nicely.

I am sll for constructive posting if it is helpful, and even if it is not palletable.

But what happens is it serves folks like me to disappear and it hasnt escaped my notice that folks like Croas post less too. I would put it down to what this board has become like.

Can we all restore this BB to how it was please?

In the meantime, I have set up a Twitter group where I am sharing my research and info. If anyone is interested in being added then please let me know.

I will (as I have been) continue to post here and would prefer that, but if it degenerates then at least I can retreat to other BB's etc.

Folks, I managed to make it there in the end (for those that dont know I had issues getting there) , albeit after the AGM had finished. But Haris was good enough to spend 15 mins talking with me.

I have to say I am firmer in my belief now than I ever was about what is happening at IDP and the team that Haris assembling certainly looks impressive.

One thing for sure, for an entrepreneurial company (which is what IDP is essentially), these guys are definitely making tracks.

Excited is not the word....

IDP - a story in the making!

what you say is absolutely brilliant, the less frequent updates now make total sense and it is great news.

Yes the Police Have been told, Ny Boy reported his goat missing to the Police. They just laughed and told him not to give it away so easily. NY Boy please, this is an IDP thread, take your childish arguments on to the play ground. Serious talk here for serious and BIG investors.

Not a fit place for a youngster like you. You have too many tantrums, watching your Goat it reacts like a 5 year old.OK?

On topic....... Very nice announcement, for now i am pleased that Mr Choudry understands the urgency in delivering Profits to his share-holders. It certainly adds much needed under-pinnings to my beliefs on future potential here.OK?
