Let's hope so Saveloy. The last thing we want is INL to try to build anything themselves. Hopefully the new guy has his head screwed on properly. This could be an early test for him, and a sign of common sense coming to the INL strategic direction.

So INL have just won their appeal at their site (on the edge of) in Framfield (Wealden District). It's captured a consent for 58 homes.

There's massive demand for consented sites at the moment so I fully expect this to be sold too.

We could do with Berkeley buying us out.
£50m plus is nothing for them.

Seems the Article is dated December 2021!!

"Tuesday December 07 2021, 12.01am, The Times"

And try as I might am unable to tweak access to it as I used to be able to. Seems they have tightened up on such loop holes

All parties seemed ok about the parting at Galliard...Useful info here

O’Sullivan’s departure from Galliard will come after 21 years at the business he joined as a contracts manager in 2001. Prior to being appointed chief executive in 2017 he was made construction director and then managing director. He is now looking for a CEO-level role elsewhere with a volume housebuilder or major developer.

Stephen Conway, executive chairman of Galliard Homes said he will be “forever grateful” to O’Sullivan for his commitment and energy wished him well for the future. He said: “The Galliard of today is unrecognisable from the Galliard of 21 years ago and that is, in large part, due to Don’s dynamism and will be his legacy.”

Perhaps he's been brought into sort out the Main contracting business (possibly the area with the most risk/issues/cost overruns etc) and a Land Director will be appointed in due course perhaps.

He clearly knows what he's about - he'll have seen, first hand, how Stephen Conway, his son and his tight crew at the top of Galliard do deals/structure deals too.

If there's one thing Galliard were v v good at it was doing innovative/profitable deals. Interesting choice of CEO imo.......And he brings his direct experience of the construction side of things, primarily, to the table aswell.

Reason for leaving Galliard Homes - there is something in the Times (December 2021) which says he resigned due to plans for a possible sale of the business.
The article is behind a paywall so I couldn't read it all.

Yes he has an impressive track record but noted that his experience is in construction rather than development.
No idea why he left Galliard Homes. I see he has been out of the market for some months but perhaps he wanted to take time out which would be understandable.

Delighted to see a man from the rebel county appointed as ceo. They say that you can take a man out of cork but you can’t take cork out of a man.
That appointment alone makes me want to buy more shares

Hard to say whether selling or not is a good idea.
Truth be told I've been tempted to buy - the continued weakness though has me concerned and macro side, I'm not overly optimistic.

Who is to know really.

Sometimes doing nothing it the best policy :)

Thanks gecko - I'm reluctant to sell but there are some good / better opportunities available.
Not hovering over the sell button just yet.

From this Morning Market Report ....

According to Nationwide's UK house price index, house prices edged down 0.9% in October from September, marking the first monthly decline since July of 2021. Annual house price growth also slowed sharply to 7.2% in October, from 9.5% in September

"Higher borrowing costs have added to stretched housing affordability at a time when household finances are already under pressure from high inflation, said Nationwide's chief economist Robert Gardner, adding: "The market looks set to slow in the coming quarters.

"Unfortunately, those warning of lack of energy infra spend over the last decade and half were drowned out by a 15 year old Swedish schoolgirl."

Sadly so.
And now we reap the result of such idiocy.

There are large new housing developments going up all over the place. Energy security was never on the last GE ticket: it was all immigration and getting Brexit done. Unfortunately, those warning of lack of energy infra spend over the last decade and half were drowned out by a 15 year old Swedish schoolgirl. Ironic that the moment she was born, we stopped investing in our own independent energy.

Can the national grid support a large new housing development in Hounslow given the supply problems in the west of London?
