#9762 It is a theory which could not be more strongly backed up by the facts. Unlike intelligent design, which relies on faith to back it up, i.e. it must be right because I believe it and this 2,000 year-old book says it is so.

#9776 The media probably isn't too worried about isolated incidents of crackpots demonstrating. More importantly, they seem to have missed your trip to Leicester. Why would you go to such a hell-forsaken armpit?

#9750, 9754 quite incorrect, I was teh first to draw attention to Pawlenty as a possible, but that was before I found he'd introduced a statewide smoking ban.

#9762 evolution is a theory. It is teh most cogent theory going but no more than that. To suggest it is a "fact" suggests a hazy acquaintance with teh English language.

Well, whether it is her or another sensible candidate, I dont mind. But a centre ground lefty simply wont win, they already have one of those and as Pram 'says' he is guaranteed about 20% of teh vote before he even starts.

#9764 She doesn't sound as bad as I initially thought but she does still have some loopy views and I think, even if I consider her to be okay, she is almost certainly unelectable. My views and the views of the American electorate are not one and the same.

Happy 1st birthday, Neptune.

Trouble is, O'Bumma is purpose designed to win elections.
- blacks will support him whatever their own poitical views;
- teh left will support him, even if they think he isn't "left enough";
- teh homos and other "minorities, ditto

- there just aren't enough hard working, normal, WASP, voters left!

#9761 She wants intelligent design to be taught to school kids. How else would you describe that? Even Mikey accepts that evolution is a fact.

Surely someone who is boring is preferable to someone who is loopy and almost certainly unelectable?

But those guys are REALLY boring Pinkey. It simply wont happen.

I dont know if you know this but I cant stand Obama. But I can see that he engages people (with his unheartfelt bu11sh1t and rhetoric) and wins them over. I guess teh only hope is that they see through him this time, though I doubt they will in time.

#9755 I know what you're saying but you only have to look (as gra has pointed out) at the Goldwater fiasco to see where trying to counter an incumbent by swinging too far right to pander to your 'base' leads. As happened with Obama, it only takes one inspiring speech to get the voters fired up. They may both be a bit steady, but the most likely tactic to win in 2012 is to at least try to appeal to the middle ground.

#9756 I thought you might like him.
