Imperial will trade on May results now, though I do expect an uptick over next week to 2500p. Fair value for Imperial is around 2900p now, so it's a bargain at these prices.

Phil, fwiw near £23 seems fairly decent risk/reward to me,
unless trading is considerably weaker than forecast. The PM multiple is very
different to either BATS or IMB, PM is less geared than BATS though.

IMB need to offer a higher nicotine level in Blu. Just my own take.

If they manage to pay an unchanged dividend you're looking at a 7% yield at this morning's shareprice :-O

Market report:

...........Elsewhere, cigarette sellers British American Tobacco and Imperial Brands plunged after Philip Morris sounded the alarm over slowing global demand. As tobacco giants attempt to offset the decline in cigarette sales with alternative products, Philip Morris reported a sharper than expected decline in cigarette volumes with its finance chief warning of a further 2pc-3pc drop in 2018. After nosediving as much as 7.9pc, BAT finished on a 209.5p loss at £36.50 while Imperial tumbled 70p to £23.55.

Imperial Brands has been oversold, no way should a quality stock such as this be trading for £23 with a 7.5% dividend that is projected to rise 10% a year in the medium term. The market has got it completely wrong. The market is treating Imperial Brands like if it is going to go bankrupt within the next few years. The stock has moved from £41 to £23, a serious move, totally unwarranted. This is a serious buying opportunity now.

Completely lost momentum. It was hugely bucking the trend since the 26th March nadir. However, the recent losses have pegged gains back to 5.5%, exactly the performance of the FTSE 100 over the same period. Still tracking the index is about as good as it has got over the last year for short periods.
