15/4/2020 17:18 | BATS gets the sanctions warning but IMB gets the kicking. | eeza
12/4/2020 08:43 | Except for the Public sector pensioners. | eeza
12/4/2020 07:21 | No amount of taxation is going to repair the public finances. They were irretrievably damaged in 2008, and again now, and probably again after Brexit works through the system. Even the rocky state they were in prior to this crisis will never be recovered in our lifetimes, and expect to see the pension age pushed out to 70 in the next few years - Happy Easter! | danieldruff2
12/4/2020 01:43 | I mean really clobbered with tax | lendmeafiver
11/4/2020 23:49 | Increasing the tax on tobacco products has less effect then one would imagine on companies profits. Total tax in the UK is around 83% of cost - a a 10% increase (8.3%) 'may' result in a reduction in sales of say 10% (probably less). To cover this the manufacturer (who's profit is what? 2%? increases his take by 10% (10% of an already tiny proportion of cost of 2%) - that tiny increase is not noticeable to the consumer being completely masked by the tax rise and though sales decrease in volume profits tend to stay the same. I think I've got that basically correct? | kiwi2007
11/4/2020 22:52 | My only concern currently in relation to IMB is that the current health crisis will lead to calls for large increases in Duty and windfall tax’s for tobacco stocks. | lendmeafiver
10/4/2020 12:12 | I think it depends if they hold the dividend. If they do, then very very very cheap. If not , id say fair value. How will smoking be impacted by covid, as its a lung disease, will it put people off smoking? You need to factor that in , your view on smoking as a business. | escapetohome
10/4/2020 11:25 | Would you guys invest now in IMB ? The share price is steadily rising and i've been interested for a while in this company as a newbie investor. Whilst it looks like i've missed the bottoming do you still view IMB shares as still cheap at the moment please? S | simonc5
09/4/2020 23:01 | I go for dividend stocks for my SIPP, the SIPP is extremely defensive so capital value of the fund is still above August 2019 level even after a 30% crash on the FTSE. Purely because I went 55% into cash a few weeks before the crash (started buying at 5800 level on FTSE which turned out to be too high never thought we'd go 7700 to 4800 in a straight line down). Several stocks have stopped the dividend which is very annoying overall the fund hit a peak in value just before the crash it is currently -10% from the peak. That said I still think medium term we could still see lower lows on the FTSE in the 4K area. There are going to be a lot of businesses in trouble and I don't think IMB is one of them. To be honest I'm looking to be building up in cash again soon. People smoke because it is a drug, people need drugs when they're addicted that's just a fact of life. | creditcrunchies
09/4/2020 22:49 | Read somebody on here saying there isn't dividend cover for IMB on Stockopedia well I've got it open it clearly states for earnings of 2020 and 2021 dividend cover of 1.33 for 2020 earnings and 1.34 for 2021 earnings. The COVID-19 update from IMB is saying sales are not affected and they're still trading inline with expectations. So until IMB say otherwise they have dividend cover, not only that if they don't cut or freeze the dividend it'll be one of only a few FTSE 100 companies still paying a dividend. | creditcrunchies
09/4/2020 16:35 | Great day if you’re a IMB holder. Looking forward to the new broom arriving and the price pushing £20+. spud | spud
09/4/2020 14:00 | If you believe they will pay the divvy you probably shouldn't even sell at 20. That's still 10% a year. | diggybee
09/4/2020 13:58 | I would not sell before 20 Gbp | basem1
09/4/2020 13:43 | I recently picked up some IMB when they dropped; 1401, 1348, 1301, 1292 & 1268. Total £2k. So am looking at +£337 Tempted to take a profit. But not sure as seem to recall they confirmed divi would be paid.... | milliethedog
09/4/2020 13:15 | How high is the share price going? It has been a good few blue days | bazzerhino
06/4/2020 16:06 | Market well up, Bats up, IMB down - normal service resumed ?! | pete160
06/4/2020 15:08 | Call for 1.3bn smokers to quit as impacted far more by Covid19 being reported on Sky News | watfordhornet
04/4/2020 20:44 | It was circa £26 this time last year when it had more competition with respect to dividend yield, agree £20’s short term must be a real possibility. | lendmeafiver
04/4/2020 19:40 | Indeed! A wonderful hedge in the current sh1t melee. Could easily see 2000p in fairly short order. shmokin' spud | spud
04/4/2020 03:23 | IMB has been in a downtrend since 2016 and bounced off a falling resistance line 4 times since. If that line is reached between say May to July it would be somewhere around 1800-1900. It could break out of the trend, but given how long it has been established, a lot of investors might want to lighten up in case share price bounces off it again, which would be self-fulfilling. The hope would be that in June/July, the COVID picture is improving and some optimism carries it through, but IMB seems to be behaving as a defensive stock at the moment so good news may cause a switch away. A better picture from new CEO on strategy, NGPs/divestment will go ahead would help. | hydrogen economy
02/4/2020 19:05 | Good strategy basem. You'll probably get in lower when we get big market 3rd wave downtrend. You have plenty of time before next XD date. If the price remains below 20 pounds, there is the chance of a takeover from one of the big boys, but unlikely in the current climate. | scorpio51
02/4/2020 18:55 | I am a quid ahead but have only bought 20% of my stake so far 20 pounds fair target price Hoping for a little pullback | basem1
02/4/2020 15:57 | Good decision 32campo. This and BATS are the best bets for divis and capital appreciation in this climate. I'm doing my bit by smoking more of their product!! | scorpio51 |
