Perhaps when I said “just think of the dividend” I should of said “please consider the current dividend yield for those of us who are fortunate to have purchased at the recent share price” hope that doesn’t offend and good luck to all.

Institutions hold the voting power, & in essence they couldn't care less because they are using OPM. But, even they are only invested in IMB & BATS for the income so the new CEO will need to be cognisant of that fact.
Cut the dividend & his own throat at the same time.
Dividend should only be cut if the FCF doesn't support it.
There is nothing high tech here. All that is required is to manufacture the goods and get them to the POS. It is a cash cow.

Or they've moved onto somewhere where the only smoking is when you're scorched by the fires of Hades. Selling to addicts would be easier if the product didn't cull the customer base. Creating new addicts comes with the promise of a free trip to join smokers in those fires. It's a hell of a business.

Well how hard is it to sell an addictive product to an addict.

Although outside Cooper's competence.

The Peter principle in its full glory.

wskill - If he cuts the dividend you will be rewarded with a sub 10 quid share price (if your lucky). Thank goodness you weren't considered for the position...

He does not have much to do just sell cigarettes and do not invest any more crazy amounts in NGP how hard can that be ,also start to pay down debt another very easy task reduce dividend by 10% then the job is a good one,any idiot can do this unfortunately IMB have not employed people who are capable of even this simple task.

I read the below article last night on the figures coming out of Italy, showing 99% of deaths being people with existing illnesses and an average age of death around 80, together with the BATS release yesterday I doubled both my IMB and BATS holdings this morning:

IMB, unfortunately, have inferior management skills.

New CEO may be better, but will be getting squillions of freebie shares.

Not surprised, BATS just reported that there has been "little impact to date on consumer demand for cigarettes" and are therefore "confident of another year of high single figure constant currency adjusted diluted EPS growth" and "expect to continue to delever the balance sheet".
