Strong finish today on a high volume- maybe a delayed reaction to AUM increase....

Good spot edmonda, lots of good emphasis on cash inflows in note which hopefully is a sign of things to come. February will be key as December and January often stand outs at start and end of year for investors but should settle in to more routine inflows in Feb.Separately, also good to see bed and ISA from someone connected to Ian Simm today and a few non execs buys recently - more good signals..

Some sound thinking above, and after another large jump in AUM in January to a total of £26.8bn (a remarkable 1/3 higher than year end 30 Sept '20)Equity Development raise forecasts and now calculate fundamental fair value at 925p/share.

Yes Yogi, agree on being comfortable with the current price. I think Investors Chronicle said recently IPX needs to put on 1bn AUM a month to keep its £8 price tag. But if it can keep up the level its been doing more recently, then maybe we will be looking at closer to £10 and beyond by year end...

Dan, I noticed this am that the AUM was now £26.814bn as at end January. Clearly the interesting info would be the inflows vs market return but bearing in mind the market dipped at end of Jan it is probably fair to assume another big inflow month. What was also not mentioned widely was the the inflows to AUM of £2.83bn in last quarter of 2020 vs the highest previous quarterly record of £1.1bn. All this shows a significant amount of growing interest in Impax and what they do. As such and like melody I am very comfortable with the consolidation in 8-8.50 range and then see what happens end March with AUM and half year?

Yeah Yogi - reckon we could do with the share price forming a base around here for a while.

IEM seems not to be quite as strong as IPX - any thoughts on that. Currently only holding IPX. I guess as a fund manager they are doing a lot of things right but IEM - the field they are known for is possibly a slower burner.

If the Democrats win control of the senate then Biden should be keen to show "going green" creates jobs. Good for IEM and IPX.

Thanks Yogi - but I would counsel that normally my buys should be taken as short term sell signals! However very comfortable with IPX - great management, outperformance and indication this will continue - see cut from the finals earlier this month:

"Impax's investment thesis is based on our belief that companies that are benefiting from the transition to a more sustainable economy should, on average, out-perform their peers in other markets. Over the past 12 months we have seen further evidence supporting this view. There are strong reasons to believe that governments, investors and consumers are seeking to steer capital towards markets that offer inherent resilience to environmental and social problems."

Well timed melody - I suspect in time that will have been a wise purchase. Fundamentals unchanged and green will be a big theme next year....

Nah, i think it's just people more people cottoning onto what a strong long term investment is, and when there is so much rubbish around, it properly stands out in terms of growth and even dividend.

Presentation and annual report both reserved and understated, which is a good sign. The investment managers are being very well rewarded and so there is no way many of them will be leaving anytime soon. Dividend was up 56% but only on a 60% ratio which is towards the bottom end of the 55-80% range. Very impressive. What I also like about this stock is that they tend to under-promise on the dividend and then over-deliver. I think the big opportunity is to develop new strategies and grow the private equity side. They could do with a roll-out PE vehicle if they could get it away, maybe using a closed-end vehicle. They are seeding a couple of funds, but possibly need to do a bit more given their undoubted current popularity.

Thanks for the link Edmonda - watched yesterday and still only between 20 and 30 views which suggests we are still some ways from the masses realising what a gem we have here. Great investing back in the day topvest - I spotted at about 90 but only invested small at 1.28 and then a lot more since. Holding for moment but seriously overweighted relative to rest of portfolio..
