Who’s trading? Citywire AAA-rated Richard Power

The trade: Octopus’ head of micro-caps upped his stake in greetings card and gift wrap maker IG Design Group from 7.9% of shares to 8.1%.

How have the shares performed? After rocketing 241% over the three years to January, to hit a post crash high of 618p, shares have since slipped, and were trading at 573p on Friday.

What does the company say? In an update late last month IG reported revenue 36% up over the nine months to the end of December. Earnings were on course to climb 20% in the year, following a four-fold climb since 2015, as the company reaped the success of an overseas expansion strategy.

What’s the outlook? The dip in its shares has left IG cheaper but still not cheap at 17 times 2019 earnings versus a peak 21 times. Analysts still reckon that offers keen value however, with a median price target of 720p, up from 640p a month ago, and a unanimous ‘buy’ rating.

One thing I've learnt over the last three years is you can not make judgements on director buying and selling .And I've been trading for twenty years odd !!!Sicknote

Agreed - complete overreaction. A CEO only has very limited windows of time in which to sell, AND this has to combined with a time when there is sufficient institutional demand out there.

Perhaps the real story here is that there were willing buyers for £11.5m of shares waiting to snap them up at 554p when a year ago these were only 400p.

Bought back the ones I sold at 550p. The Softcat Chairman just sold 1/3 of his stake and the share price hasn't moved. Bit of an overreaction here IMHO.

Am I missing something Shanklin? Octopus upped their holding from 6.73% to 7.61% according to RNS, this is about 700k shares hence I wrote earlier that more RNS to follow.

There you go, Octopus added to their holding, I expect a few more RNS like this. Fineman sold to allow institutions to top up. IMO

There's fundementaly nothing wrong here, we all read last weeks trading statement! I don't think Fineman wanted to sell but as the RNS stated, it was for financial planning. Some obviously spooked though and MMs having a little fun as they often do with this share!!
