Cash,

Im not sure you read my post properly.

“NS is expensive and high risk ….Why would they entertain the NS” - Because if they get a free or nearly free carry with a potential recoverable resource of 100 mbbl. It doesn’t get any cheaper or low risk than that.

Tonystorm,Because it's not in the bag yet and is still high risk, and not that cheap aswell. Here are the options; a) Canada, relatively low risk low cost development drilling straight into cashflow. b) Higher risk high cost NS exploration that could damage the company, albeit not as horrifically as Liberator. I'm pretty solidly behind option a. Serenity, 100mln bbls, surely that's highside expectations ? I'll believe that when;1) partner gets involved and funds Serenity appraisal.2) Serenity stepout drill confirms extent of reservoir and gets further appraised.100mln bbl fields in mature parts of NS are rare these days.I3E is a very different company today because they completely shifted focus & core strategy away from NS into safer cashflow development ops. Why they would now even entertain the idea of chasing the NS exploration again, I have no idea. Let a partner validate it of they should move on from it.Put simply, if they cannot convince the industry, it begs the question, how have they convinced themselves.Cash

Cash,

We are lead to believe that the appraisal well will be a free carry or nearly free - if this is the case and with a potential prize of 100 mmbbl of oil recoverable - how is that a millstone on I3E’s cash ?

Seems to me that Today's fall is due entirely to worries about the new Covid mutation. Remember the market wide collapse last year when markets were spooked by the belated recognition of the threat from Covid.

But look what happened last time - the markets soon enough recovered more or less completely - some areas more than recovered.

And look where we are wrt our understanding of covid and wrt our medical defences. We have vaccines which already provide some measure of protection against all forms of covid including the new variant, and people are already working to adapt the vaccines to deal specifically with the new variant. And we have treatments which reduce the impact of covid in serious cases. And we have a much better understanding of what we all need to do to manage a resurgent covid threat. And we have a population which is mostly ready to collaborate in containing the threat.

In short we are in a much stronger position than we were when the first market retreat happened.

I went 100% into cash at the start of 2020 and dodged the bullet of the market collapse. I have not done so again and do not intend to.

What's that phrase about being greedy when others are being fearful?

Fair point. Despite promising cash flow projections / safe jurisdiction/ potential Serenity upside, it feels like I3E is more heavily traded than other OG plays and I was therefore working along the lines it must have a lower percentage of II shareholders compared to other OG AIM companies. Perhaps that isn't the case. I will go and do some research!

Even when oil spiked if didn't reflect a rise in I3e share price , but when oil tanks so does most oil shares . Just have to be patient and sit it out . Averaging just over 10p so am not worried at present time , you need big balls for Aim dog ...,

Of course Spangle is right;
Free cash flow is the cash left over after a company pays for its operating expenses and capital expenditures (CapEx).

That sounds right. I'm guessing that most AIM £100m + MC stocks are on SETS, so SETS is presumably not the reason for I3E share price volatility in itself. I really should know this but presumably the shareholder base lacks Institutional Investors, with higher % of PIs and more short term traders?
