Latest news on the website"Thames water invests £24 m in Hydro Sludge handling
technology"
I think the £24 M might include contracts already announced to the market, but it looks very promising.Hydro also seem hopeful of other authorities following
Thames lead.

Good spot picnic. That helps me understand the share movement earlier in September. After having a look around I found the announcement at this was published on September 6th. Also explains why no further movement today.

From today's UK analyst:

Key wastewater contract wins saw revenues increase 23.8% to 13.7 million pounds for the first half of 2011 at Hydro International (HYD). The provider of water treatment products also reported a pre-tax profit increase of 53.9% to 950,000 pounds, as margins improved on key projects and overheads costs were controlled. Internal expansion was also accelerated by the appointment of an international business director. Hydro shares gained 4p to 135p.

Good results but it's a very lumpy business. Over 80% of the order book is those three Thames Water contracts.

The results seem strong but a muted reaction. Perhaps not surprising given the market conditions.

Will Chicago-style alternatives to London's proposed "super-sewer" present some opportunities for Hydro?

Reminds me of my late Aunt who bought some shares in Asil Nadir's Polly Peck (SP?) just before he skipped off to Cyprus to escape trial. She lost quite a bit of money. In her defence she thought she was buying shares in the maker of Pretty Polly tights of which she was a big fan!

It's not all in the name. Easy mistake to make though....

From iii;

Hydro International (HYD) [125.5P/£18.02 million]

This AIM-listed supplier of environmentally sustainable solutions and products for the control and treatment of storm water, wastewater and combined sewer overflows provided a trading update in which it stated that the company is trading in line with market expectations for the year to 31 December 2011 and is encouraged by general trading, as the level of project proposals remains high.

The US wastewater business was awarded a $2.4 million (£1.47 million) grit removal contract at the Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant in San Diego, California during the period, though the UK business continues to see delays with projects coming through under the new Asset Management Program AMP5.

The group's storm water businesses are seeing recovery in their core markets, and in the UK demand (demonstrated by the strong level of enquiries) appears to be recovering, though conditions in the US remain challenging with subdued private sector construction activity.

Whilst the company seeks to grow its main UK and US businesses organically, it continues to consider acquisition opportunities to further its growth in other international markets.

AGM Statement :
"Steve Hides, CEO of Hydro International plc, commented "The Group is trading in line with market expectations for the full year to 31 December 2011. There are encouraging signs of some recovery in the stormwater businesses. Additionally the growth experienced by wastewater, with significant contract wins in both the UK and the US, underpins revenue visibility for the year. The Group is in robust financial condition with a strong balance sheet and is well positioned to continue to grow organically in core UK and US markets as well as seek opportunities to expand in other international markets."

US wastewater business is £8m t/o, £2m profit.

US stormwater business is £2.8m t/o, £0.4m profit.

...I'd probably rather own one and not the other!
