So the papers said an employee was taken hostage, the company said did not happen.
I think we should all believe what shazzbott is telling us from his fireside somewhere in the world.

Don't be too hard on him he's only trying to help the share price... down! Not working though shaz, is it? What's the betting he will disappear as soon as we hit 33p

shazzbott, the employees that left were from the mining contractor, not Hummingbird. if i'm not mistaken, that deposit is scheduled to be mined in Q3, so production will probably not be affected. and the video on Mali television showed a peaceful situation. has anyone but me watched the video?

Shazzbot only posted 5 times since creating an account here. All 5 today on HUM. Says it all....

I'm not making any assumptions, other than that in my experience of similar issues over the last 35 years in Africa they are NEVER as simple as the companies would have you believe...

"I've plenty of contacts in Mali, I'll speak to them and see what is actually happening on the ground."

Yes, better than making assumptions which are not backed up by official news from the company.

Ha ha ha. Hilarious. I've spent more time in Mali than all you lot put together. I've stood in dozens of orpaillages in Mali and Guinea, had face offs with Galamseys in Ghana, dealt with illegal miners in DRC and Tanzania and makorokosa in Zimbabwe.
And it is on that basis that I reiterate my original post: do not underestimate these people.
And what do you expect the company to tell you? Staff were evacuated, and yet you think production won't be affected?
I've plenty of contacts in Mali, I'll speak to them and see what is actually happening on the ground.

This is not even a production part of the mine, they were clearing it to start production later this year - your ignorance is outstanding. I've personally spoken to HUM management and operationally all is well - suggest you give them a call if you are concerned.

K East where we are operating is miles away from K West. I doubt very much that production will have been affected . The RNS stated that the plant was still running and from what ive seen lately the new II whoever they are have kept on buying. AIMHO MMLTD :-)

anyone worried what go's on every day all over Africa should never invest in that continent.
I saw pictures of a black man running around london with what looked like a sword the other day. There are people blowing up people and running people down all over Britain. If you are worried then move or invest on the main land of Europe. But its the same over there.

shaz - but it's not theirs. It never has been. They have no right to be there and they are acting illegally by stealing gold from the state. Luckily HUM's partner and owner of 20% of the project is the government. And they have previously agreed the arrangements for all artisans to vacate. Which means that the security forces will clean it up wherever it gets out of hand.

Non-direct situation? Let's wait and see the production figures for the month before saying that. Did you notice that the article said staff were evacuated? Hardly non-direct. And the silence is deafening

Not that different, just a turf war on a different scale. It shows the lengths the Malian orpailleurs will go to to protect their ground. This was around 30km away from Yanfolila.

Mali is obviousley not for you, especially if you can't interpret the impact of a non-direct situation. Suggest a tracker fund.
