As indicated in the annual report the directors have proposed, for
consideration and ratification by members at the annual general meeting of the
company to be held on 17 July 2001, the payment of a dividend of 60 South
African cents per share or such lesser amount, if any, as may be determined by
the members.

In order to expedite the payment of such dividend as may be approved by the
members in general meeting, notice is hereby given that any dividend so
determined will be paid on 3 August 2001 to members registered as such on the
record date, namely 20 July 2001. Shareowners not registered on the South
African share register will receive the US dollar equivalent based on the
currency conversion rate prevailing on the record date.

The dividend, as confirmed by members at the annual general meeting, will be
published in the press on 18 July 2001.
