The move is perceived as an attempt by CEO Stuart Gulliver to “add flexibility” in its retail banking and wealth management (RBWM) unit, operating in the Asian region. | gotnorolex

01/3/2016 19:42 | carer ... If you browse around HSBA publications and the presentation this 1/4 .. the conclusion you come to is that HSBA has diversified into renewable energies amplified by China of course .... and will take a relatively small hit in the event that shale oil drillers go pop by having a limited exposure. Smart move .... and the divi will of course be further amplified by the exchange rate :) | keith95
01/3/2016 13:00 | "but the share price will fall after record date by the amount of the divi..in theory at least." I think you mean the ex-dividend date...and theory is only loosely connected to reality. | zangdook
01/3/2016 12:03 | HSBC makes most of the money in China and Hong kong. wealth creation in China is tremendous, huge population and market provide plenty cushion to any market turmoil. all these reports on Industrial output reduction are only natural because China is moving to more service orientated growth and it wants to move away export led growth, which cause too much pollution in major cities and simply not sustainable. I would not believe all these doom or gloom about China, there are plenty customers in China for HSBC. I am thinking of investing some money for the medium/long term. | carer
01/3/2016 10:45 | Great. many thanks for the link. It is very useful. happy investing. | carer
01/3/2016 10:35 | Yes, you can do that...but the share price will fall after record date by the amount of the divi..in theory at least. Why don't investors buy stock just before the dividend date and sell right afterwards? | kiwi2007
01/3/2016 10:29 | Hello, Could somebody explain to me (new comer) how the dividend work? e.g. can you buy the shares before the ex-divi day and sell after the record date and will still the dividend pay out a month later? If so, this is no brainer to get last year's final dividend. many thanks for your kind advice. | carer
29/2/2016 21:28 | Nor do they consider the dire performance of the pound ... Woodford was talking down HSBA over the weekend with his regular article ... Guy seems too smug to me ... And I fail to see how avoiding banks and picking 4 or 5 high yielding Ftse stocks warrants an investment ... Might as well invest in the index and save on mis-management fees. I have a feeling HSBA will open higher on ex divi day than it closes ;) | keith95 |
