Well they've just closed down Collindale as I had the new XK on order there - although thankfully they're moving my allocation to another HR Owen not to far from me.

I actually think that regardless of whether they are / are not - the next few months could be very good for them indeed.

They are not closing down showrooms, as far as i know. They are selling them as ongoind businesses.

In Deccmber they sold 6 VW showrooms and their 6 showrooms in East Anglia ( Jaguar , Volvo and Land Rover).

Once they have become more lean , hopefully Penske will eye them up again.

Simon,

I believe they are currently closing down showrooms - Hendon is indeed to close within the next couple of weeks. Nevertheless orders for the new XK are very strong and with the City Bankers getting bigger than ever bonuses there is reason to believe that the remaining showrooms should be doing extremely well.

Gentlemen,

I am told that H R Owen is in serious financial trouble. It may even be bust.

Anyone knowledge of how Jack Petchey and Trefick Ltd operate? See his stake is over 17% now.

Yep was preety good but more importantly - perfect timing. Timing is worth more than the call but when they both come together - wow. Lucky barstewards dont seam to have attracted any bad press though . Too small I guess

Well if these guys dont get bought out they are in big trouble imho. They only just covered the itnerest payment last year never mind a 10p divi. High chance of a profit warning or a tleast a divi warning !

Hitchens Harrison was the buyer yesterday. Makes a bid seems increasingly likely, but will it be at much of a premium to the current price?

Did you notice those trades yesterday (4 Aug 2004)? I think there may be a holdings RNS soon. I wonder if this is Petchey topping up.

The share price has held up rather well of late and is it at an all time high, in spite of sector fears of rising interest rates. Why might this be?

The price has been stable in the past couple of weeks, in spite of selling. Why might this be?

This from the Guardian of 20 July 2004:-

"Among the smaller caps, car dealer HR Owen was marked 9p higher at 232.5p amid rumours of stakebuilding. Late on Friday just over 3% of the company changed hands at 235p - 8p above the prevailing mid-price."

Anybody still out there?

Excellent recent results, stunning divi but a lousy, declining share price.

Anybody got any ideas?
