06/12/2020 09:09 | 'an ordinary business into a highly successful one. Howden Joinery, Next and Admiral, to name just three, operate in highly competitive industries but have been amongst the most successful companies in their sector for years. Economic textbooks will tell you their returns should have reverted to the mean decades ago. These texts of course don’t give culture a second thought.' Continued... | hazl
04/12/2020 08:34 | I spoke to my contact who is in the business....a carpenter. He uses the business a lot, and I thought it was only fair to bring up the Wren's point. He said that Wren's had always been a competitor but thought that Howden's were heads and shoulders above them, from his point of view. He said that as it was trade he didn't have to wait while some individual little kitchen was being sorted and there was always room to negotiate. I found it very reassuring. Though it is only one view, I know somebody now retired who used to arrange big refits and new kitchens regularly, in a large complex in London and they used Howden's at the time. | hazl

01/12/2020 08:19 | as an aside I am buying a new kitchen in the new year. but all of the companies have big order books and up to 5 weeks waiting time. Builders et al rushed off their feet at the moment. | nashwan123

30/11/2020 15:31 | Lol, I don't work for anyone, just a personal observation. I hope HWDN does well for all holders, I have held here myself in the past. Just pointing out potential increasing threat from competition. HWDN has recovered well since April and I hope it continues to. I won't mention it again! | uhound
30/11/2020 09:38 | The market doesn't agree with you anyway. | hazl
30/11/2020 09:37 | Well lets hope not,and if you work there I hope you do well. | hazl
30/11/2020 08:11 | I agree hazl - Howdens are good, but Wren are better! Howdens are trade only, but Wren could match price with a better product at the same price level. Like I said, used Howdens for years on many property projects, but having used Wren who offer everything Howdens do, IMO Wren are better and COULD steal market share. | uhound
27/11/2020 19:53 | We have finished up at last excellent! That's funny uhound I know people that use Howdens all the time for their work designing kitchens. We are very pleased with our kitchen from them. They do a computer visualisation that is based on your own kitchen, so that you can see exactly how it will look. I have been very pleased with the finished product hence my investment. | hazl
26/11/2020 11:14 | Competition from Wren Kitchens may affect things here. As a buyer of Howdens kitchens for years, I've now switched to Wren. Fantastic quality and service and good for price too. I know others who feel the same. | uhound
25/11/2020 09:04 | Come on Howden! Show them what you're made of. | hazl |
