05/11/2015 08:44 | I'm not sure that the housing market is slowing much ULINBAC, it's more an issue of reduced profits growth if rates rise among other things. There's a number of builder suppliers still doing rather well imo along with HWDN. SHI, ALU and TPK all warned on the same day recently but they have a shocking history and are forever looking for reasons and excuses. The better growth, more reliable co's are doing better imo and have been thrown out with the bathwater to some extent imo. All imo CR | cockneyrebel
05/11/2015 08:34 | Was going to sell only for the amount of brokers upgrading recently. Will see how the next update goes. bought at 484.82. never hit my stop. Will give another little while maybe depending on the performance. The slowing of housing growth will keep me vigilant. I think its mainly due to the number of people accessing their pensions and doing up houses and new records of BTL houses from pensioners. Just my opinion though | ulinbac
05/11/2015 08:29 | What a cracker ah Lauders :-) Fwd PE 16.5 even after today's - that's very low for HWDN historically - cracking earnings history. If they hit the top end and get upgrades to next year then they are looking seriously cheap now imo. All imo. CR | cockneyrebel
01/11/2015 10:36 | There have been buy recs for a number of the building supply sector co's in that past week imo. I think late Aug to early Oct there was a quietness for house-builders and suppliers that hadn't been seen since the run up to the election. Since mid Oct it seems things have picked up again for a number of these co's from what I've heard. I think the same may have happened for a number of retailers in general too. I don't know what the cause was, whether it was all the rate rise speculation, unrest in Europe, people taking late holidays where they were teed off with the weather etc and various other small things that amounted together to take a bit of steam out of the market. Perhaps that short term weakness has reversed and hence the recent broker buys? CR | cockneyrebel
31/10/2015 23:10 | There have been 3 separate buy rating from analysts this week. Institutional investment is high, so is there that much upside. I'm in since 484ish. Tempted to nail but will wait until results now | ulinbac
30/10/2015 14:19 | Trading update on Thursday. CR | cockneyrebel
30/10/2015 10:36 | Liberium retains BUY and 540p target. | aishah
23/10/2015 12:19 | Taking into account the XD, HWDN may have double-bottomed at 450p equiv. yesterday. Question is whether yesterday's Travis Perkins and SIG disappointing summers are company- or sector-wide indicators. :0) | taurusthebear
23/10/2015 00:01 | Bought under £3 a while ago for a 50% uplift. Talking to local builders, HWDN are doing very well - lots more to come here. Run your winners long term imo. Please dyor. | aishah
22/10/2015 18:35 | Well the sell-off in the building suppliers sector today really took its toll here. If I am not mistaken things were made worse as ex-divi today or is it tomorrow? Think it is usually Thursdays now. With the DOW up over 300 points so far it will hopefully be a better day tomorrow! HWDN must be a bit annoyed at the reaction today after their recent buy-backs. At least they save some dividend payments! | lauders
22/10/2015 17:51 | will be watching Hwdn to see how it performs. Ideally I want a nice weak rise at some stage. I will then short it. Hwdn back on the shorting radar for me. | bigdazzler
22/10/2015 16:03 | Hence in light. XD today. Adding if/when closer to 4 quid. :0) | taurusthebear
18/10/2015 14:22 | Re-entered. 450p looks like a firm bottom... :0) | taurusthebear
17/10/2015 09:54 | support at 320p so could fall fast | dlku
14/10/2015 12:31 | Getting close to re-entry. :0) | taurusthebear
14/10/2015 12:12 | guess we we will know why directors sold so many soon enough | dlku
14/10/2015 11:57 | Anyone know the reason for the recent drop or is it just following the market? Had 2 buy recommendations in the last week. Thanks, UL | ulinbac
11/10/2015 06:30 | I was looking at various pieces on the www today in relation to checking out my HWDN's holding. Not been too impressed with the recent share price even after all the company buy backs, but overall I still think it looks OK here and that sentiment will change. There is a dividend coming (ex-div date 23rd October) and they are in their strongest half now, so hopefully we should see a recovery in the share price to break through the 500p barrier again in the not too distant future. HWDN's have been in profit every year apart from one since opening in 1995: Since it started in autumn 1995, the business has opened new depots and increased turnover continuously, except for a 12-month period in 2008–9. Even today, with over 600 depots across the UK, we continue to see the opportunity to transform the scale of the business, seeing scope for at least 700 depots. We continue to invest in all aspects of the growth and performance of the business, including new depots and depot operations, new and existing employees, product development, and manufacturing and distribution. Their customer service seem to be a bit hit and miss when you search the reviews for them, but if this sentiment is any sign to go by then I think we can dismiss a lot as just "hot air": “Fitted Kitchen” Written on: 31/08/2015 My husband being a joiner/carpenter fitted our kitchen last november. After reading all those negative reviews, i thought to write one myself to express my view about Howdens kitchen Chesterfield . We are very satisfied with the design (we choose very modern ), the quality of the cupboards and all appliances. The customer service was excellent and all staff were dealing with us in a professional manner. This is our third kitchen (first time from Howdens)and we cannot complaint about it. Our son and two other friends had also a kitchen fitted from Howdens Chesterfield and they are too delighted with their kitchen and the service. The price is also very good. It seems to me that some people have an habit to complaint about very little. We would definitely recommend Howdens Kitchen. So I am hanging on to my relatively small holding and will try to enjoy the dividends and progress that will hopefully come in future. Good luck everyone who holds! | lauders
29/9/2015 15:31 | Kind of. How do you find these minor pieces though? I have input many different variations of Howden Joinery on investegate, google and other information forums but still haven't found the article above. Am I doing something completely off or are these little things that just appear from time to time? I spend one to two evenings a week documenting all the moves and related info to each stock so a bit annoyed at myself for missing things. Thanks, UL | ulinbac
