OK - this has been falling for days. I like the company. But not going to buy any more until we get a day when the price rises. Currently price is in the peek 2016-18 ranges but is miles off 2019 range. Not sure why. Perhaps waiting for USA data? Or Japanese data? Or Valentine sales? Anyone out there know the reason for the fall?

From very recent trading update: Online growth more than offset the impact of the temporary closures of physical retail due to COVID restrictions. Valentines Day and Easter rapidly approaching. Summer shops will be open and ice cream sales will be going bonkers. Price relatively low. RSI low end Seems a good time to invest? What are your views?

WH Smiths already have three aisles of Valentine cards. Chocolates is the next item on the agenda. Hotel Chocolate are way off their highs ... After that its Easter - you know what that means... Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate.... Then its summer ice cream

D94ccm: We're all new to this game...Even those who have done it all their life. I think the market is designed, as best it can, to be chaotic. Unless you have a Phd in chaos theory or have some strong link to the companies you invest in then we're all newbies

Very very true Net, I was not trying to be exhaustive, just a couple 'UK' mass consumer points I was trying to highlight. I'm fairly new to this game, but I struggle to see significant headwinds for this company once we get back to some form of normalcy, and even before that.

D94ccm: You miss a few off the HC (Hotel Chocolate) list: 5. How many stores sell as many luxury ice-cream all through the spring and summer (you buy shares for the future). 6. How many lockdown winners will win even bigger when shops open? 7. How many UK retailers are actually expanding in USA and Japan? 8. How many UK retailers can make huge amounts of money out of Valentines Day and Easter? 9. How many lockdown winners are currently miles off their recent highs?

I have a couple of thoughts, although happy to educated.1. HC branding is superior2. People are more worries about perception these days than reality3. If the chocolate is ok, then the branding will make up for the rest of it.4. How many other high street chocolatiers have the presence both online and retail stores that HC has?

This is how I see it. Valentines Day is coming up soon. You cant go out for the fancy meal. You might not even be able to meet. This could be, it might just be, the biggest Valentines Day ever for Chocolate sent through the post! www.hotelchocolat.com/uk/shop/valentines-day-gifts/ 14th Feb - Chocolate is going to be HUGE! Then once shops open again you know those queues for HC ice-cream are just round the corner!

bookbroker: Yes a box of chocolates is the ideal lockdown present - fits into large padded envelope - address, stick stamp on, job done! Its also good present for anyone in hospital or self isolating. The new potential growth stories coming from USA and Japan might do well as well.... Then if lockdown ends the shops selling ice creams all summer should be "packed"... I think it has a good growth story and has more to go too. This is quite a big dip in the recent peak price so could also be a good entry point. Cheers Net.

I think you are being hoodwinked by the story of Caribbean plantations, true it is, but depends upon what you deem value. I like rich, dark chocolate, along with sweeter chocolate, except Guylian, they are appallingly sweet. Vomit induced sweet, but HC. is overpriced, full stop, and those fingers are a racket. Nice gifts, but not everyday. All it has been is a good investment thus far!

I would say excellent TS..... Very impressive that company more than able to replace store sales with online..... Clearly they must have great brand loyalty

This share has a history of strong bounce back so I've made a punt at today's prices.

Smart move to close it higher with a false auction yesterday and make it appear down today. Obviously if the buyer is still bidding for stock.

Yes people buying for Christmas (shops are busy) but the underlying story is not that good. I sold (in my view). However if a momentum trader perhaps its a different story. Market Cap: £565m How much profit does it normally make?

Bookbroker: The product is quite good. Yes if you want the "real" thing you probably need fresh cream inside the chocolate like swanage chocolates: Https://www.chococo.co.uk/ But failing that Hotel Chocolat do produce a great range of chocolates that taste nice. www.hotelchocolat.com/uk
